World’s Edge Studio, the current overseer of the Age of Empires franchise is reportedly working on a few unannounced titles and a transmedia project according to a Linkedin profile. The profile was that of Noble Smith, who is the franchise narrative director at World’s Edge Studio. In the job experience section, it mentions that they are overseeing all the narrative content of the Age of Empires franchise along with unannounced titles and transmedia projects.

World’s Edge Studio

World’s Edge Studio is a fairly new studio under Xbox Game Studios. Xbox announced the formation of the studio back in E3 2019. The studio is led by Shannon Loftis, a Microsoft veteran. World’s Edge Studio is solely dedicated to the Age of Empires franchise and also new real-time strategy-based games under the Microsoft banner. It oversees the effort from external studios including Relic Entertainment, Forgotten Empires, and Tantalus Media. The studio also makes sure the development of the games is heading in the right direction. Age of Empires IV was under the supervision of World’s Edge during its development phase.

Speculation of the Unannounced Titles

According to fans, the unannounced titles have a high chance of being anything related to the Age of Mythology series. The Age of Mythology is a spin-off game of the Age of Empires series. Fans and critics have given great reviews of this spin-off game and solidified its legendary status. An Extended Edition of the game was released for Steam back in May 2014. Other than that there has been no news or indication of a sequel or a remake by the creators of the game up until this year.

The Creative Director of the Age of Empires franchise, Adam Isgren, in an interview back in April, acknowledged the possibility of a new Age of Mythology game saying he hasn’t forgotten about it. He also said to stay tuned regarding the game. This indicates that an Age of Mythology remake or sequel might have been up for discussion at some point. The game will probably be exclusive on Xbox and PC with enhanced 4K graphics. So, it is highly possible that one of the unannounced titles by the studio might be Age of Mythology.

Time will tell what game World’s Edge Studio has been overseeing. What do you think? Would you play a new version of Age of Mythology or want a completely new real-time strategy game? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
