There are tons of dragons in Elden Ring all across the map. These dragons drop rare resources like Dragons Hearts that you can trade for powerful spells. That is why this guide will show you all the locations of each dragon and how to get all the incantations as well.
Keep in mind that you will face these dragons across the entire map. So, make sure that you level up your character since some of these fights can get quite tough. If you are ready to find and destroy all dragons in Elden Ring, let’s dive right in and get started!
Elden Ring: Dragon Locations
We will talk about all the major – and some normal – dragons that you can find across the Lands Between. Depending on your level, the fight will be either extremely easy or quite difficult. The good news is that most of the dragon fights play out similarly where you have to stand near the hind legs of the beast.
However, there are certain fights that will truly test your skills.
Flying Dragon Agheel
The first dragon that almost every player will encounter is Flying Dragon Agheel. While it is an optional boss, Agheel can be found in Limgrave while you are exploring Agheel Lake. You need to enter this area and roam around the lake.
After a short duration, this large dragon will land in the lake and start attacking you. Before you fight it, make sure that you clear some of the enemies around you. Otherwise, you will have to fight tons of different foes while fighting Agheel.
Here is what you can expect to get after defeating this dragon:
- 1 Dragon Heart
- Agheel’s Flame
- 5,000 Runes
Elder Dragon Greyoll
Greyoll is the largest dragon in the game but it is extremely easy to kill it. Many players use this cheese tactic to gain tons of Runes and level up quickly. You can technically kill it at level 1 without any issues. However, for that, you need to travel to Caelid.
She is found in Dragonbarrow. While she cannot move herself, the small dragons around her will attack you on sight. Since there are many small dragons flying around, make sure that you are not overwhelmed. To make this “fight” easier, stick to her left side and use a bleed weapon.
Over here, you cannot be spotted by any dragons and you will deal damage to her. Eventually, you’ll defeat her and get tons of rewards. I cannot stress how important it is to use a bleed weapon to chunk down her HP or you’ll be there forever.
Here is what you get for defeating Greyoll:
- 50,000 Runes
- 5,423 Runes for each dragon around her
- Five Dragon Hearts
Glintstone Dragon Smarag
Finding this dragon is extremely easy. You must first progress through Limgrave and head to the Liurnia of the Lakes. From there, keep heading north until you reach the Raya Lucaria Academy. If you don’t know where this area is, you can see the massive building on a cliff in the center of the lake.
From there, see the small island on the map next to the Academy. Here, you can find Glintstone Dragon Smarag, and when you defeat it, you will get these rewards:
- 14,000 Runes
- Dragon Heart
Magma Wyrm Makar
After clearing the Liurnia of the Lakes, you will want to make your way over to the Altus Plateau. If you do not have the two medallions for the Grand Lift, you will have to go through another way. Over here, you will face the Magma Wyrm Makar.
This is an intimidating boss but the fight isn’t too difficult. Keeping in tradition with the difficulty level of this area, you can easily beat this monster. Make sure that you stick to its hind legs. Do not try to hit its tail or you will get hit by a sweep attack.
Just be careful about his stomp attack and when he starts running around throwing lava all over the floor. Wait for the floor to be clear before you start hitting its hind legs again.
- 18,000 Runes
- One Dragon Heart
- Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword
Decaying Ekzykes
This dragon loves to breathe Scarlet Rot which can be quite terrifying. If you get hit by this attack, your HP will start to deplete in no time. As long as you avoid this attack, the rest of the fight is just like any other dragon fight in Elden Ring.
You can find this dangerous dragon at the Caelid Highway South while exploring the area. Keep in mind that since this area has tons of strong enemies, you need to be extremely careful.
- 38,000 Runes
- One Dragon Heart
Flying Dragon Greyll
This fight is exactly like the previous dragon fights. However, the major issue is that you are fighting on an extremely narrow bridge. This doesn’t give you a lot of extra space to kite around this massive foe. Other than that, this is the usual dragon fight in Elden Ring.
You can find this dragon on the narrow bridge that leads to the Beastial Sanctum in Caelid where you can find the Black Blade Kindred and Gurranq.
- 80,000 Runes
- One Dragon Heart
Borealis, the Freezing Fog
As the name suggests, this dragon loves using frost attacks that will not only slow you but deal tons of frost damage. However, you need to fight it exactly like you fought Agheel and other similar dragons. Find an opening and use Torrent to stick to its hind legs.
You can find this dragon in the middle of the blizzard on the frozen lake southeast of the Freezing Lake Site of Grace.
- 100,000 Runes
- One Dragon Heart
Great Wyrm Theodorix
Like the Magma Wyrms, this dragon is a massive version of that boss with a few additional attacks. You can find this deadly dragon at the frozen river north of the Albinauric Rise in the secret area of the Mountaintops of the Giants.
- 180,000 Runes
- Three Dragon Hearts
Glintstone Dragon Adula
Glintstone Dragon Adula is a magical dragon that deals tons of damage and can mess up your day. You must first progress through Limgrave and head to the Liurnia of the Lakes. Once you enter that area, go to the Three Sisters located in the northwest. You do not have to clear the Raya Lucaria Academy to enter this area.
However, you will have to go through Caria Manor and defeat Royal Knight Loretta to unlock this area. After unlocking the location, you need to head to Ranni’s Rise which is marked in the image above. You will encounter this dragon here.
After you deal a bit of damage to it, he will fly away. To finish the fight with this mighty dragon, you need to head over to the Moonlight Altar in the Cathedral of Manus Celes. Keep in mind that the Moonlight Altar is only unlocked after progressing through Ranni’s quest line.
If you are curious, you can enter this area after defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. Once you unlock this location, go northeast from the Moonlight Altar site of grace.
- 120,000 Runes
- Adula’s Moonblade
- Dragon Heart x3
Ancient Dragon Lansseax
You can find this massive four-winged dragon near the Abandoned Coffin Site of Grace in the Altus Plateau. Like other dragon fights, stay near its hind legs and whack at him when you find an opening. Also, using Torrent is recommended since you will need additional mobility.
After dealing enough damage, this dragon will fly away and move to the hill just south of the Rampartside Path Site of Grace. Even if you avoid her previous encounter, she will still appear in this second location.
- 60,000 Runes
- Lansseax’s Glaive
Lichdragon Fortissax
Lichdragon Fortissax is found in Deeproot Depths. He is a massive four-winged black dragon wielding powerful lightning attacks. While the boss is optional, you need to fight it if you want to complete Fia’s questline.
- 90,000 Runes
- Remembrance of the Lichdragon
Dragonlord Placidusax
Finally, the last dragon can be found at Crumbling Farum Azula. This is a massive dragon that is easily the strongest and one of the toughest bosses in the game. You might be used to fighting dragons in Elden Ring but this fight is nothing like you’ve ever experienced before.
The overall atmosphere of this boss fight is amazing and it is one of my favorites of all time. Unlike other dragons, you cannot use the strategy of staying near its legs and hitting it.
- 280,000 Runes
- Remembrance of the Dragonlord
Dragon Hearts
While you are on your journey to defeat all dragons, you will notice that they drop an item called Dragon Heart. These hearts can be traded at the Church of Dragon Communion for various Dragon Incantations. These are powerful spells that will destroy your foes and anything that stands in your way.
You can find two Church of Dragon Communions in Elden Ring and you can get 14 Dragon Incantations – including Placidusax’s Ruin. Each spell requires a certain amount of Dragon Hearts while some even require specific items that you can get by defeating all the dragons.
Keep in mind that Placidusax’s Ruin cannot be obtained by going to the Church of Dragon Communion. Instead, you need to trade the Remembrance of the Dragonlord with Enia at Roundtable Hold.
Dragon Incantations
If you are curious, here are all the Dragon Incantations that you can find and use in Elden Ring:
- Agheel’s Flame
- Borealis’s Mist
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Fire
- Dragon Ice
- Dragon Maw
- Ekzykes’s Decay
- Glintstone Breath
- Greyoll’s Roar
- Magma Breath
- Rotten Breath
- Smarag’s Glintstone Breath
- Theodorix’s Magma
- Placidusax’s Ruin
Most of these are powerful breath attacks that deal tons of damage and apply various effects like frost, burn, or others. These are great incantations that will help you force your foe to retreat and be on the defensive.
Conclusion
And there you have it; that’s everything you need to know about the Elden Ring dragon locations, incantations, and Dragon Hearts. You can use these hearts to get strong incantations that will help you defeat powerful bosses and conquer other players in PvP.
