Nintendo Switch introduced the ability to play NES, SNES, SEGA Genesis, and Nintendo 64 Games via emulation on the console via the Nintendo Switch online expansion, and there was a rumor late last year where it was detailed that Nintendo is looking to add GameBoy games to the cycle too, but the rumors have resurfaced with more water to hold as proof of concept has been leaked. We might not be too far from GameBoy Emulation for Nintendo Switch.
GameBoy Emulation for Nintendo Switch – Is it coming?
It seems that after a lot of arduous waiting, Nintendo is looking to add GameBoy Emulation for Nintendo Switch in a future update to the Nintendo Switch online service. It should most likely join the current Expansion Pack plan, but that is yet to be determined.
The discovery was made earlier today via trashbandatcoot on Twitter
Poryleaks has already got Golden Sun to run off the emulator:
As such, there is indeed proof of life through this, but we have yet to verify or confirm if Nintendo is indeed planning on launching the feature sooner rather than later, and that is something that only time will be able to answer.
While the feature is something that has only been discussed via rumors and other previous speculations, it is worth remembering that we should take all of this with a grain of salt until there is a credible source or Nintendo straight away gives us the news if any.
