Modern Warfare 2 is finally released, and players are loving it. The game has great multiplayer where you can use tons of weapons and other perks. However, finding the ideal loadout can be overwhelming since the game has many things you can customize in your weapons. So, this guide will look at the Modern Warfare 2 best FTAC loadout, class setup, and attachments.
The FTAC Recon is a great gun that is ideal at medium-long distances. It usually kills enemies in two or three hits, depending on your loadout. We will show you the stats, attachments, and all the perks that you need to use to fully maximize its potential. With that said, let’s dive right in and check out the Modern Warfare 2 best FTAC loadout.
Gun Setup | Class Setup |
---|---|
Magazine: 15-Round Mag | Secondary: Expedite 12 |
Optic: Cronen Mini Pro | Base Perk 1: Overkill |
Barrel: Bull Rider 16.5″ | Base Perk 2: Double Time |
Stock: Assault-60 Stock Factory | Bonus Perk: Fast Hands |

How to Unlock FTAC Recon
Unlocking the FTAC Recon is extremely simple. All you need to do is to level up your M4 to level 13. After reaching level 13, you will unlock the FTAC receiver, which allows you to use the FTAC Recon. Usually, you have to level up your military rank to unlock various weapons or attachments.
This makes it easy to unlock the FTAC. Considering how good this weapon is, the unlock requirement is quite low.
Stats
Before we talk about anything else, let’s look at the FTAC Recon’s stats. It is an amazing weapon with high damage, a good fire rate, works well at medium-long range, and has precise accuracy. The best part is that the recoil isn’t that difficult to control, either.
However, to reach these stats, you need to upgrade the weapon to level 23 (maximum level) and have the ideal loadout and attachments. To unlock this weapon, you need to get your M4 to level 13. Without any further ado, here is the Modern Warfare 2 best FTAC loadout.
Gun Setup
Having the ideal gun setup can help you increase the stats of your weapon. While the FTAC Recon is great and can kill any enemy quickly, having the loadout mentioned below will allow you to kill them in only two hits. Keep in mind that the loadout will require you to play the game and reach a level requirement.
With this setup, your play style will be aggressive with some stealth involved. Unless you are certain that you can kill the enemy, you should not engage. However, try to play behind enemy lines since it will be difficult to locate your position.

Magazine: 15-Round Mag
While you might not think that this is a good attachment, it works really well with the FTAC Recon. Normally, the gun has only 10 bullets. So, having additional 5 bullets can make a lot of difference. Since this weapon kills enemies in two or three hits, having 5 more bullets means that you can kill 1 or two more enemies.
Optic: Cronen Mini Pro
The Cronin Mini Pro is a great Optic since it gives you a red dot sight. The best part about this sight is that it offers amazing precision. So, you will have an easier time hitting targets regardless of how far they are. However, the only downside of this attachment is that your aim down sights (ADS) is a bit slower than normal.
Barrel: Bull Rider 16.5″
When in comes to barrels, going for the Bull Rider 16.5″ is the ideal choice. It offers you better bullet velocity, recoil control, increases your damage range, and improves your hip fire accuracy.
With that said, though, you will notice a decrease in your movement speed, ADS speed, and hip recoil control. However, since you will have other attachments that synergize well with this, you won’t have any downsides.
Stock: Assault-60 Stock Factory
This stock allows you to sprint faster due to its light weight. On top of that, your aim while walking is also improved. This means that you can have a higher chance to kill enemies even if you are running or strafing.
Plus, your movement speed is also improved if you are crouched. So, you can move faster even while being hidden from the enemy.
Finally, your ADS speed is significantly increased. It counters the effects of the Optic. The only downsides to this are that your aiming stability is a bit reduced, and you will feel the recoil especially if you tend to move and shoot. I mean, this isn’t Valorant after all.
Rear Grip: SAKIN ZX Grip
The SAKIN ZX Grip gives you better recoil control. Since you are using a lightweight stock, having a rear grip that reduces recoil is crucial. Otherwise, you will waste a lot of your bullets since you will be busy controlling the recoil.
Class Setup
Now, let’s take a look at the class setup for the FTAC Recon. Running this setup will allow you to run around the map carrying two primary weapons. You’ll also have a faster reload speed thanks to your bonus perk. Speaking of the bonus perk, you can swap that out depending on the type of match you are in.
In terms of your secondary weapon, you can carry the Expedite 12. While it is a primary weapon, you can carry it thanks to your first base perk.
Secondary: Expedite 12
Rather than having a secondary weapon like the P890, you can carry another primary weapon thanks to your base perk 1. The Expedite 12 is a great choice since it is a shotgun that will help you out at close range. While the FTAC Recon is great at medium-long range, it doesn’t perform well at close range.
So, having a shotgun for up-close combat will allow you to get more kills and deal more damage to the enemy. Most of the time, they won’t see what hit them.
Base Perk 1: Overkill
Having Overkill as your base perk 1 is a great thing to have. While you can only carry pistols and such as your secondary weapon, this perk allows you to carry another primary weapon in your second slot. Since we are using the FTAC Recon, you will have a tough time at close range.
So, this perk allows you to carry a shotgun or any other weapon that works great at close range. This will make you unstoppable, as you will be a beast in both long and close fights.
Base Perk 2: Double Time
As the name suggests, Double Time allows you to quickly sprint around the map without any worries. Since the game has a lot of fast-paced combat, having the ability to sprint swiftly is a great way to fight enemies all over the map. Plus, you will also be able to run away from sticky situations and get to safety.
Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
Fast Hands is one of my favorite perks in Call of Duty. It gives you a lot of momentum as you can swiftly change and reload your weapons. Since Modern Warfare 2 features fast-paced gameplay, every second matters. The more time you can save and shoot the enemy, the more kills you will get.
It can be quite annoying when you die while swapping your weapons or reloading. However, this bonus perk will change that. Usually, changing to your secondary is faster than reloading, but with this perk, you can do whatever you want.
Ultimate Perk: Ghost
Ghost is arguably the strongest Ultimate Perk in Modern Warfare 2 right now. It allows you to become undetectable via UAVs, Portable Radars, and Heartbeat Sensors. This is a great way to remain hidden from the enemies and surprise them. If you master the stealth element, you will easily build up your kill streaks.
Unless you are spotted by the enemy if they see you physically, you will remain hidden. So, getting this perk will help you get more kills and have a better time. Use this perk until it gets nerfed.
Lethal: Claymore
This is a personal preference for most players. Many players like to carry either Semtex or other lethal weapons; I prefer the claymore. Placing claymore around the area is quite useful if you are holding a spot. Enemies will often run near them and get killed, thanks to the explosion.
You can place this in tight stairways or entrances where the enemy is not expecting it. Alternatively, you can also carry Proximity Mines, which achieve the same thing as the claymore.
Tactical: Flash Grenade
Carrying a flash grenade is extremely crucial if you are having issues clearing a roam or breaching into a building. Throwing it before entering a room will allow you to flash any enemy if they are in it. Alternatively, if you find yourself reloading, you can throw the flash bang toward an enemy to blind them for a while.
You can either melee them at that point or reload your weapon while they are blinded. Keep in mind that you will have to turn your camera away from where you throw the flash grenade, or you will also get blinded. Ideally, the best way to use this is to throw it in a room before entering.
Field Upgrade: Munition Box
The Munition Box is a great Field Upgrade since it offers a lot of benefits. For starters, you will have a lot of ammo and will not run out that easily. Secondly, having more ammo means that you will not find yourself in an awkward situation where you run out of bullets while fighting an enemy.
It takes the FTAC Recon only two or three shots to kill the enemy (depending on your loadout) and it has a total of 50 bullets. If you do the math, you will run out of bullets extremely quickly if you miss a lot of your shots. However, with this Field Upgrade, you will have a lot of spare ammo that will certainly save your life.
Tips And Tricks
Finally, let’s talk a bit about the tips and tricks to help you maximize the potential of this weapon. To make sure that you are performing well with this gun, you must do a few things first. If you are a newer player, getting used to this type of play style might take a while. However, with enough practice, you’ll be good to go.
Play Aggressively
With the FTAC Recon and this loadout, you need to play as aggressively as possible. This doesn’t mean that you should jump in without thinking. Instead, try to stay behind enemy lines and take out any enemy you see. You might not be used to this play style, but after a few games, you will love how many kills you get in each round. Plus, getting those kill streaks is extremely easy.
Remain Hidden
This might contradict the last tip, but you need to remain hidden. Since you cannot be detected on the UAV, enemies have to visually see you to locate you. So, try to play the game stealthily and only attack enemies that you know you can kill. Otherwise, let a player or two run away so that the rest of the squad isn’t aware where you are.
Use Your Tactical To Clear Rooms
As we mentioned earlier, using flash grenades to clear rooms is essential. However, do not use your grenade randomly. Since you only carry a limited amount, wasting them can be the difference between living and dying. So, only use them in rooms you are certain that has enemies in them.
Alternatively, if you see multiple enemies in front of you, hide behind cover and throw the grenade. When they are blinded, you can easily spray your FTAC and get multiple kills.
Do Not Waste Your Munitions Box
This is one of the most important tips that you need to follow. While it might be tempting to just use your Munitions Box whenever you use a few magazines of your gun, don’t waste it randomly. Always make sure that you use this when you only have a few bullets left. That way, you will maximize the Munitions Box and get a lot of bullets without any worries.
Don’t Be Afraid To Use Your Shotgun
Finally, while your main weapon of choice is the FTAC Recon, don’t be afraid to use your shotgun from time to time. There will be times when the enemy will be too close for comfort. While the FTAC is a great weapon, it can be difficult to use at close range.
So, to make up for that, you can swap to your shotgun and start blasting away. The Expedite 12 is a fantastic weapon to help you take out enemies that get in melee range.
Conclusion
And there you have it, that is the Modern Warfare 2 best FTAC loadout and class setup. This is a great weapon that works really well in medium-long distances. Having a shotgun as your secondary helps you deal with enemies that come too close for comfort.
Hopefully, this guide helped you find the ideal loadout for the FTAC Recon. If you have a better loadout that you are using, let us know in the comments below! We would also love to hear your thoughts on this loadout as well.
