It seems Capcom is definitely visiting the idea of Resident Evil Village coming to the current-generation consoles.

Resident Evil Village on current-generation consoles is a possibility

Tokyo Game Show (TGS) took place earlier today and today was Capcom’s panel.

During their panel, they talked about the development and the lessons they learned from Resident Evil 7 and how they used what they learned toward making Village.

To close the panel, the speaker stated that there the potential of bringing Resident Evil Village to the current-generation consoles is being explored.

The rumor was floated a few days ago by Dusk Golem, a renowned leaker for the world of Resident Evil games.

With Capcom acknowledging the potential of a current-generation port, it could mean they take a port into serious consideration.

You can also see a highlight reel of some new gameplay shown at TGS:

You can see that the team is indeed putting a lot of effort in the latest entry to the mainline series.

Resident Evil Village is set to be more darker, scarier and much more open than Resident Evil 7 and perhaps in the series.

Albeit the port will come with some compromises such as visual quality, lower framerate etc which was a common practice for cross-generation games between the PS3/PS3 and Xbox 360/Xbox One transition.

We do know that Resident Evil Village is running on the RE Engine, but a new logo could suggest that it is an improved version of the engine, optimized for the next-generation consoles.

While details are still scarce on a proper release date for Resident Evil Village, fans are undoubtedly excited to see and hear more about the game in the coming months.

The next-generation consoles are also on the cusp of arriving, with fans pre-ordering their consoles earlier this week and still doing so.

As we close the book on this console generation, we can hope that Capcom and other third-party developers do support the PS4 and Xbox One for as long as they can.
