Saints Row the Third Remaster leaked earlier this week for the PS4 and Xbox One. Many people are playing the game and enjoying it, but despite earlier claims by the developers, it seems that the game could have support for 60FPS on consoles. However, it might come with a catch.

Saints Row The Third Remaster and 60FPS – Will you buy it?

People who have the early copy of the game have shown proof of an FPS Lock in the options.

What this means is, that the game can surpass the originally intended 30FPS and go upto 60FPS. The catch? you’ll be facing screen-tearing. How much is something that will be subjective.

On the initial announcement of the game, it was confirmed that the game would be locked at 30FPS across the board.

However it seems that the developers had a change of heart and allowed for uncapped framerates after all.

While finding a good gameplay video showing 60FPS is scarce on YouTube, you can definitely give the game a try when it releases on May 22nd.

The official Twitter account for the game has long announced that Saints Row 5 is in development, and hopefully unlike its predecessors, should run at higher and better frame rates.

Keep in mind that removing the FPS lock can have an adverse affect on your V-Sync, so if you feel the screen tearing getting to you, just enable FPS Lock again and you should be good.

This will be the first time console players can play the game at an uncapped FPS, so hopefully it does help improve the gaming experience for new players. We can hopefully expect a video from Digital Foundry examining the 60FPS versus the 30FPS cap once the game officially launches to see how much of a difference the lock truly makes.

Whether you’re playing the game again or for the first time, you are definitely in for a treat if you go in the game with the uncapped FPS. It’s worth trying out both modes to see which suits you best.
