Discord is the preferred communication application for not just gamers, but most mobile, and PC users. It has tons of features that other similar applications haven’t caught up to yet and provides most of its services to free users as well. Users can create their own servers, and channels, for a variety of reasons like gaming, and even work. It’s fairly secure and provides the option to integrate bots as well. The application is also available on mobile devices, and recently a certain Andoird update has been causing problems on various phones. If you want to fix the Discord crash on Android problem, here is how you can do that.
For the most part though, Discord provides a fairly flawless user experience. There have been rumors circulating that Discord might be purchased by a big company like Microsoft, and we will have to see how that goes. If that does happen, Microsoft will definitely bring Discord to their consoles as well.
Fixing the Discord crash on Android Issue
Multiple users have reported that they’re constantly running into a crash while opening Discord. This has been confirmed by Google to be a problem with the recent Chrome and WebView update. They have since then deployed a fix, and you can follow the steps below to ensure you are on the latest versions of both.
- Open Android Settings
- Navigate to Applications
- Here, find Google Chrome, and Update it
- Similarly, find Android System WebView, and Update it as well
- Now, try relaunching Discord again
Ideally, this should work for you. If it doesn’t, you can additionally disable, or uninstall WebView itself, and redownload it from PlayStore.
If your crashing isn’t related to WebView, you might want to update Discord itself as well and make sure you aren’t on an older version. Additionally, if you are running into the ‘Update Failed‘ error, make sure you check out our guide for that as well.
