Obviously, no game can quite replace the solid franchise and gameplay that Assassin’s Creed has built over the years. However, there are still some pretty amazing games out there that can give you the same satisfying feeling, intense action, and thrilling gameplay as Assassin’s Creed.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an action-adventure game where you play as a shinobi. It was released in 2019 and won the Game of the Year at The Game Awards, named the Best Action Game by IGN, and over 50 other awards and nominations. That alone can already tell you how good this game is.
As a shinobi, you can get the upper hand by sneaking past enemies and dealing instant killing blows if you can get within range undetected. You can also combine your parkour and movement skills with useful tools like your grappling hook to help you reach high places and locations.
Otherwise, you’ll have to fight enemies in some intense close-range katana-based combat. Although, there are also a variety of weapons and items aside from your katana that you can use to help you in combat.
Most of Sekiro’s stealth elements feel and look similar to Assassin’s Creed’s. This allows enjoyers of the stealth elements found in the Assassin’s Creed franchise to be right at home with Sekiro.
However, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice does put a heavier emphasis on boss fights and difficulty level, which is why it received comparisons to the Dark Souls series. Not to mention that they were developed by the same studio. In Ghost of Tsushima, you play as Jin Sakai, a samurai tasked with protecting Tsushima Island from the first Mongol Invasion of Japan. Even though the game is mostly inspired by real historical events, it doesn’t represent an accurate version of the events and is still mostly fictional.
Like most Assassin’s Creed games, Ghost of Tsushima features a rich open-world environment that you can fully explore. This gives you a great glimpse into the early Japanese culture and environment. You can traverse the land on foot or via your trusty horse.
In combat, Ghost of Tsushima features two main elements. You can rely on close combat using your katana and a variety of stances in a standoff. You can also adapt a stealthy playstyle by assassinating enemies and building towards becoming a legendary warrior nicknamed “the Ghost.”
There are a variety of NPCs and side quests that you can encounter throughout the three islands in the game. Doing these quests can help you unlock items, charms, and even special combat techniques. Ghost of Tsushima also features a multiplayer mode that was added as a free DLC in 2020 called Legends. This allows you to access three game modes: Story, Survival, and Rival with friends.

It features a post-apocalyptic open world set in the 31st century dominated by advanced robotic organisms simply called “machines.” These machines range from aggressive to docile, and some can even be mounted. You play as Aloy and start your quest to unearth the mysteries behind the machines.
Horizon Zero Dawn’s combat mechanics are quite similar to Assassin’s Creed. This makes it easier for AC fans to transition flawlessly to Horizon Zero Dawn. Not to mention a similar leveling mechanic and skill tree that’s commonly found in the newer Assassin’s Creed games.
There are also some stealth and parkour mechanics that are reminiscent of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. You can hide in tall grass, perform silent kills and takedowns, and vault over obstacles. Of course, these are to a lesser extent, but it’s nice to have them there.
Overall, Horizon Zero Dawn is a solid game that explores a unique and creative world, features great combat elements, and excellent fundamentals, and provides a thrilling gameplay experience. I’m sure we all can’t wait for its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West to release on PC.
Hitman 3

The Hitman series is another successful franchise built on stealthy assassinations. It features the infamous Agent 47 as he comes up with creative and unique ways to assassinate his targets. In Hitman 3, Agent 47 goes on a killing spree as he and his associates hunt down the leaders of an organization called the “Providence.”
Hitman 3 is the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy and is the 8th installment in the entire franchise. Hitman 1 and 2 are both heavily tied to Hitman 3, with progressions, unlocks, and even items readily importable between the games. The game’s overall narrative and quest are also heavily influenced by the previous games. So I highly recommend trying them out as well, if you really want to dive deep into the Hitman storyline.
Regardless if you have played the other Hitman games or not, Hitman 3 still provides a pretty amazing gameplay experience like no other. The thrill of finding creative angles, sneaking past guards, and assassinating without being caught is unmatched. If you enjoyed the stealthy assassinations in Assassin’s Creed, you’d surely get satisfaction in Hitman 3.
Hitman 3 also introduced a variety of new game modes and types with its Year 2 update. This includes the addition of ray tracing for PC and PCVR, Elusive Target Arcade, and a Freelancer mode that introduces a ton of new gameplay and features to the game.

You play as Aiden Caldwell in a dark modern age world set 22 years after the events of the original Dying Light game. In this world, most of human life has been wiped out, leaving only a few scattered settlements. You jump from one settlement to another as you journey to Villedor to search for your long-lost sister, Mia.
Although the two Dying Light games are connected, you don’t need to play the first game to get all caught up. Both games heavily revolve around movement and parkour, often praised for how well they handle it. There are over 3000 parkour animations that allow players to climb ledges, slide, leap from one location to another, and wall run, allowing for a smooth movement animation.
The combat system in Dying Light 2 is also pretty solid. It mostly revolves around melee-based combat with a few long-range weapons like crossbows, shotguns, and spears here and there. These weapons degrade as you use them, so you’ll have to be smart about using them and getting ready to craft some more.
Unfortunately, Dying Light 2 falls a bit short with its story. Luckily, its combat and parkour system more than make up for it.

The combat, stealth, and exploration elements in the game will make you feel right at home if you’re coming from a game like Assassin’s Creed. Obviously, they aren’t going to be one-to-one representations, but both games bring a lot to the table.

The game features a third-person view with a unique dynamic between Kratos and his son Atreus. Its hack-and-slash system roots can still be found in the game, but the combat has been drastically remodeled. Kratos’ old dual-chained blades are ditched in favor of the new Leviathan Axe. It does, however, follow the same combo-based combat matched with puzzle game elements.
God of War doesn’t have the same open-world setting that Assassin’s Creed is known for. Nor does it feature stealth as the main mechanic. However, the two games do have a similar feeling of combat. I’m sure AC fans won’t take too long to get accustomed to it. The large explorable areas also provide you with tons of things to do, albeit not in the same sandbox feel as Assassin’s Creed.
One area that God of War truly exceeds in is its story and narrative direction. It’s truly a masterpiece that’s worth playing if you’re looking to fill the lack of a robust story in most Assassin’s Creed games. It’s also worth noting that God of War is probably the best game, like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, due to their massive similarities.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The famous web-slinger is back in action once again. This time you’re playing as Miles Morales as he is being trained by Peter Parker before he becomes the full-time friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. I highly recommend Spider-Man Miles Morales for those that are looking for a more intense parkour and movement experience.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a sequel to the widely famous Spider-Man game. It’s also set in an open-world modernized Manhattan. As Miles Morales, you get some new abilities, costumes, and skills that weren’t available to Peter Parker.
There are also tons of new gadgets and gizmos that you can upgrade via a skill tree. The focus on exploration and the leveling-up mechanic will definitely remind you of some Assassin’s Creed games. However, Spider-Man: Miles Morales offers more than you can imagine and gives you a glimpse of a day in the life of a superhero.
An area where Spider-Man: Miles Morales truly shines is when you traverse and explore throughout the city while web-slinging. It has a similar feel to the parkour elements present in the AC franchise but provides a more one-of-a-kind experience.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a game like Assassin’s Creed for you if you’re looking for leveled-up parkour and movement action. It’s an overall impressive game, and will surely bring you excitement whether you’re a Marvel fan or not.
Watch Dogs 2

Watch Dogs 2 is an action-adventure game where you play as a young hacker named “Marcus Holloway.” Marcus can hack into various electronic devices, including A/C units, cars, traffic lights, and phones, among many others. He does this using his in-game smartphone that’s connected to the ctOS system.
It’s set in a fictionalized version of the San Francisco Bay Area with a vast open-world setting that consists of four different areas. Some aspects of the design and look of the game are similar to GTA V., So, if you’ve enjoyed that game along with AC, you’ll definitely be a fan of Watch Dogs 2.
A hacker does most of his damage in silence. This is why Watch Dogs 2 also has some robust stealth gameplay elements like those present in Assassin’s Creed. Like Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs 2 also provides a player with an aggressive or stealthy approach to the game. This allows you to enjoy the game in a variety of ways, depending on your preferred playstyle.
Marcus also has excellent acrobatic skills that allows him to parkour and maneuver his way around the city. Another element of Watch Dogs 2 that feels just like Assassin’s Creed. Of course, you can also navigate the world via the various vehicles you can find in the city.
Overall, Watch Dogs 2 feels like a hackerman version of Assassin’s Creed. If the Assassin Brotherhood was a secret organization of hackers, I’m sure Watch Dogs 2 would be what Assassin’s Creed would be like.
