Elden Ring has upped the ante regarding how magic generally works compared to other Soulsborne entries. There are tons of Sorceries that deal massive damage, and each feels snappy to cast. However, if you’re torn between which one to employ in your mage build, look no further than these best Elden Ring Sorceries.

This guide consists of early-game gems to late-game powerhouses. So, ensure you use the correct Glintstone Staff alongside these Sorcery spells before diving right in!

1

Night Comet

Elden Ring - Night Comet
  • Location: Sellia, Town of Sorcery

The best Sorcery in Elden Ring is perhaps the Night Comet. As one of the Night Sorceries, the Night Comet is already powerful; however, it has a clever trick as it disappears from sight, making it impossible to dodge. Because agile bosses can dodge most of your spells, the Night Comet is almost game-breaking.

The Night Comet has also seen a cut in its FP cost, making it your go-to spell in the Lands Between. In addition, you can also charge it to boost its power. Luckily, you’ll also find the Night Comet very early in Sellia, Town of Sorcery. All you have to do is light up the flames and then snag it from the chest.

2

Carian Slicer

Elden Ring - Carian Slicer
  • Location: Costs 1500 Runes after giving the Royal House Scroll to Sorceress Sellen

If you’ve ever been faced with frustrating enemies like Malenia and went, “wow, if I could only strike using a sword but with the speed of a dagger”, you’re in luck. After getting the Royal House Scroll in Limgrave, hand it over to Sorceress Sellen, and buy the Carian Slicer. This will single-handedly carry you in Elden Ring for 1500 Runes only.

The Carian Slicer takes up 1 Slot and is dirt cheap, as the spectral blade conjured only costs 4 FP per swing. Plus, the speed at which it slashes can melt enemies. Since you’re using a sword, this gets a jump, running, and roll attack, but the only thing missing is powerstancing, which would’ve been exciting.

3

Rock Sling

Elden Ring - Rock Sling
  • Location: Caelid

Not all enemies in Elden Ring are weak to magic, and such scenarios call for Rock Sling – the only spell that deals physical damage. It’s the jack of all trades, and it’s more than hurling rocks at enemies with the Rock Sling. It has an insane range with fantastic tracking, meaning it will always hit enemies.

Not only that, but the rocks can also stun lock targets. Add the fact that you can use it while moving, and Rock Sling might be the perfect sorcery for casters wanting to play it safe. Plus, it’s found pretty early in Caelid, sitting in a chest north of the Street of Sages Ruins.

4

Meteorite of Astel

Meteorite of Astel
  • Location: Consecrated Snowfield

Nothing says “get off my lawn,” like Meteorite of Astel in Elden Ring. This stands as one of the most potent Elden Ring sorcery, as players can bring forth a shower of meteorites for as long as they hold it. And it’s only fair that it will use up your FP bar within seconds.

Since you’re a sitting duck while casting it, you might as well place Terra Magica beforehand. But, since some enemies in Elden Ring need to die immediately, it’s well worth taking the risk. To take hold of it, you must beat Astel, Stars of Darkness, in Yelough Anix Tunnel in the Consecrated Snowfield.

5

Comet Azure

Comet Azure
  • Location: Mt Gelmir

Another one of the best sorceries in Elden Ring, obtained from Primeval Sorcerer Azur – the man himself – in Hermit Village, Mt. Gelmir, Comet Azure is a powerhouse. This is the main opener for boss fights, and once it connects, it chunks through enemy health within seconds.

The cost here is a hefty amount of Intelligence. Plus, it’s nothing short of an FP guzzler, which a swig of the Flask of Wondrous Physick mixed with Cerulean Hidden Tear can overcome. The energy beam, however, can often miss targets and waste tons of FP, which hurts Comet Azure’s ranking.

6

Ranni’s Dark Moon

Ranni's Dark Moon
  • Location: Ranni’s Questline

At first glance, Ranni’s Darkmoon 68 Int requirement might not sound all too exciting, but every mage build should add it to their repository. As the name suggests, it’s tied to Ranni’s questline. If you progress her questline, you’ll get access to this Full Moon Sorcery and unlock Elden Ring’s best ending.

Ranni’s Dark Moon, albeit costly on FP is a cut above Rennala’s Full Moon. While both leave enemies with a 10% damage negation debuff, Ranni’s Dark Moon can inflict Frostbite, adding an extra 20% damage negation. Plus, the build-up is so high that it only takes one cast to trigger the effect, making it the best sorcery to start a boss fight.

7

Terra Magica

Terra Magica
  • Location: Academy Crystal Cave

Terra Magica is a Glintstone Sorcery that places a sigil under the caster’s feet, boosting magic damage. This is a useful spell if used to your advantage. There are several ways to make it work. For one thing, the Terra Magica pairs well against Field Bosses if placed in hard-to-reach areas.

Spellblade players that use weapons like Moonveil can also exploit its benefit. You’ll find the Terra Magica inside a chest after taking the lift up in the Academy Crystal Cave.

8

Swift Glintstone Shard

Swift Glinstone Shard
  • Location: Costs 600 Runes after giving the Royal House Scroll to Miriel

It’s pretty surprising that Elden Ring’s best sorceries are the most basic ones. One such Sorcery spell is the Swift Glintstone Shard. It costs only 600 Runes after giving the Academy Scroll to the turtle pope. Whether it’s for general or PVP use, the Swift Glintstone Shard is quite efficient for what it does at such a low FP cost.

Plus, the Swift Glintstone Shard lives up to its name, as the spell can be spammed repeatedly, allowing you to quickly chip enemies out.

9

Glintstone Icecrag

Glintstone Icecrag
  • Location: Sold by Seluvis

Elden Ring is brimming with incredible Sorceries, but only a few have status effects. That is why sorcerers shouldn’t sleep on the Glinstone Icecrag’s Frostbite effect. While it travels somewhat slowly, it packs a wallop. Plus, you can spam it over and over again thanks to its low fp cost.

Since every enemy’s made of flesh, you can inflict Frostbite with a few castings. This leaves them vulnerable to increased damage from all sides. Seluvis sells it for 7500 Runes in his rise, which is a fair price for this great sorcery.

10

Loretta’s Greatbow

Loretta's Greatbow
  • Location: Caria Manor

Outside building status effects, bows are a niche pick in Elden Ring. Mages are in luck, as they’ve found a better weapon in Loretta’s Greatbow. This Sorcery deals more damage than a regular bow, travels incredible distances, and you’re spared your precious Smithing Stone.

With the element of surprise, you can slap all sorts of Magic buffs from Terra Magica down to the Graven Mass Talisman and charge up the bow to shave off thousands of health from your enemy. To get it, head to Caria Manor and beat Royal Knight Loretta.

11

Cannon of Hamia

Cannon of Hamia
  • Location: Eastern Liurnia

If you like throwing Fire Giant spells but would rather not spend 2 of your precious memory slots, Cannon of Hamia is just for you! The Cannon of Hamia is Elden Ring’s equivalent of what would be a Grenade Launcher. Only instead of a puny grenade, it launches out a nuke!

The blast radius is already big enough, but if charged, it decimates everything. You’ll find the Cannon of Hamiaat at the top of the Converted Fringe Tower in Eastern Liurnia.

12

Shard Spiral

Shard Spiral
  • Location: Sold By Sorceress Sellen

Where melee players falter against giant enemies like Dragons, Mages with the Shard Spiral in their arsenal face such threats straight on. The magic projectile is somewhat slow, but instead of blowing up on contact, it flies right through them, dealing steady magic damage. Might as well pop it out against the Elden Beast, right?

As one may assume, you can also deal with packs of enemies using the Shard Spiral. However, this will fare poorly against mobile enemies like Maliketh and Malenia. You’ll also need to fork out 8000 Runes to buy this Sorcery from Sorceress Sellen.

Final Thoughts

And there you have it; these are the best Sorceries in Elden Ring. If you plan on using a Sorcerer build, pick up the above sorceries, and equip them in your memory slots. We hope you’ll have an easy time beating Elden Ring with these at your disposal.
