After skipping an entire console generation and making the wishes of many fans come true, the Armored Core series is once again back on the map. Before they rose to fame from Dark Souls, FromSoftware was known for the Armored Core series, and from there, they put a focus on building further into the genre, without a new entry to the series for over a decade. With the announcement of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, the game is now coming back to life with Bandai Namco Entertainment as the publisher.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is finally here
The Armored Core Series was the crown jewel of FromSoftware at one point in its history. The series took a decade-long hiatus, with the last main entry to the series released back in 2012 with Armored Core V: Verdict Day on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Armored Core was revered for its mech combat, and the latest entry is looking to bring back that fervor and more with the upcoming title. Armored Core VI, players can build and pilot their own mechs with full 3D maneuverability, and complete fast-paced missions. Utilizing ranged and melee combat, you will be able to make your mech a truly formidable force on the battlefield.
The story of the game takes us to a remote planet, Rubicon 3. With the promise of a mysterious new substance that had the potential to greatly accelerate humanity’s technological and communication abilities. However, the substance instead led to a catastrophe on the planet and its neighboring stars, creating a new burning star system.
After 50 years, the substance has been spotted again on Rubicon 3, which has been sealed off since the original event. The game’s events cover the power struggle between an extra-terrestrial corporation and resistance group fighters to control this volatile substance. The player will take on the role of an independent mercenary caught in the middle of this battle.
The game has Masaru Yamamura at the helm as Director. He was the lead designer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, taking over the mantle from Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Platforms and Release Date
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon has been announced for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. The game currently has no fixed release date and is slated as a 2023 title.
