If you are the kind of COD player who prefers sweeping maps with an endless barrage of bullets without worrying about the recoil control or reloads, then your weapon of choice must be an LMG. But which LMGs in Modern Warfare 3 would be the best choice for you?
To answer that question, I have rounded up a list of the 3 best LMGs in MW3 that hit the hardest, have manageable recoils, and allow for a lot of build/loadout variation. This is as good as the LMG department is going to get in MW3. So, read on!
DG-58 LSW
Unlocks at Level 7
We’ll start with our #3 pick, the DG-58 LSW. A lightweight and versatile Burst-fire LMG that offers a lot of mobility with the tradeoff being slightly less damage. You can turn this into one of the fastest-firing LMGs in MW3.
You can work with less damage by using supporting attachments, but if your weapon feels insanely heavy and slow, you’ll never be able to use it in smaller maps. That’s something you’ll never be worried about with the DG-58 LSW.
Recommended attachments for the DG-58 LSW:
- Optic: Cronen Mini Pro
- Barrel: DG-58 LS18 Barrel
- Muzzle: VT-7 Spitfire Suppressor
- Underbarrel: SL Skeletal Vertical Grip
You’ll be able to move around the map unnoticed thanks to the suppressor and just tear enemies apart at any range. The vertical grip will also help in mitigating recoil when firing multiple bursts.
Holger 26
Unlocks at Level 25
The Holger-26 is a bigger and meaner G36C and comes in at #2 on our list. You’ll be surprised how quick this LMG feels and will definitely start using it over the Assault Rifles in Modern Warfare 3.
Recommended Attachments for the Holger 26:
- Muzzle: Colossus Suppressor
- Barrel: Ascent Lord Heavy Barrel
- Underbarrel: XTEN TX-12 Handstop
- Laser: SL Razorhawk Laser Sight
- Ammunition: 5.56 Nato High Grain
The intent behind these attachments was to provide you with an LMG that has high bullet velocity and remains almost recoil-free even when you are firing larger sprays with it.
This LMG will prove to be an insane laser in game modes like Hardpoint and Domination, where you often have to deal with multiple enemies at once.
PuleMyot 762
Unlocks at Level 4
And now, let’s talk about the #1 spot. The PuleMyot 762 is currently the best LMG in Modern Warfare 3, thanks to its destructive damage, clean iron sights, and a conversion kit that makes the gun as nimble as an AR while retaining the damage stats of an LMG.
You’ll get this LMG at Level 4, and let’s just say that should you decide to use it, it’ll make leveling up for ranks, platinum camos, and other weapons a whole lot easier. :p

- Conversion Kit: Pulemyot 762B Bullpup Conversion
- Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
- Muzzle: VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor
- Magazine: 75-Round Bullpup Belt
- Stock: Rubber Recoil Pad
The bullpup conversion kit is the star attachment here. It helps you negate a general negative (the mobility) of the LMG and turn it into a weapon of mass destruction. Mind you, it still has a bit of a recoil to it, so you’ll have to counter that.
