Overwatch 2 Tanks are one of the most fun Heroes to play. They are annoying to kill, have great crowd control, and can bully other Heroes around. They can also dish out insane amounts of damage while soaking it up a well.
Tanks are perfect Heroes to use if you prefer a more in-your-face type of playstyle. They are an important piece of every team and can even make or break team comps. So, we’ve decided to rank the 8 best Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes that you should be playing.
D.Va
Starting the list of our best Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes is D.Va. D.Va provides everything from defense to offense, matched with mobility. She’s one of the most mobile Tank Heroes, making her challenging to deal with.
D.Va’s Fusion Cannons are more than capable of dealing crazy damage at close range. Her Defense Matrix helps protect herself and her team from danger. The Boosters on her mech make for great initiation plays or to disengage when needed. Finally, her Micro Missiles provide D.Va with solid poke AOE damage from range.
D.Va is one of the Heroes that received a buff during Overwatch 2 Season 6, which is why she tops our list. She can be hard to master but extremely strong when used correctly.
Ramattra
Ramattra is part of the new wave of Heroes to be introduced in Overwatch 2. The Egyptian robot was quite popular among Overwatch players when it was first released. Ramattra has the unique ability to adapt to different situations, primarily because of his ability to quickly switch between its Omnic and Nemesis forms.
The Void Accelerator(Omnic form) can deal severe damage at range with its 100 projectile charges. Alternatively, Pummel (Nemesis form) can dish out the punches when face-to-face with other Heroes. Its Void Barrier and Block are up there with some of the best defensive abilities in-game.
We haven’t even started to mention how Ramattra heavily counters flight-based characters with his Ravenous Vortex. Ramattra’s flexibility and effectiveness against some of the best Overwatch Heroes is why we’ve decided to rank it this high on our list of OW2 Tanks.
Zarya
Next up, we have one of the most underrated characters in the game. Zarya is tough to master but rewarding to play. If you’re looking for a more supportive Tank Hero in OW2, Zarya is your gal.
Zarya’s playstyle revolves around her barriers. She can create barriers around herself or her allies that not only keep them safe but also increase the damage she can output. Her barriers only last for a few seconds, so knowing when to use them is the secret to fully unlocking her potential.
Zarya is best paired with characters who can deal AOE damage. Her Graviton Surge ultimate is one of the top playmaking abilities in the game that traps enemies and deals gradual damage. A well-timed Graviton Surge can instantly wipe out a squad with the proper follow-up.
Doomfist
Time to bring out the big guns, or hands in this case, with Doomfist. Doomfist brings a lot of AOE damage to the table. His Seismic Slam, Rocket Punch, and Meteor Strike can damage multiple enemies; heck, even his primary weapon can hit multiple enemies, albeit for low damage.
He excels as a frontline Hero because of his solid crowd control, medium to close-range damage, and excellent sustain. Doomfist also has fantastic mobility, allowing him to bully enemies and engage (or disengage) fights. His skills also act as a way to create Temporary Health, allowing him to live longer the more enemies he hits with his abilities.
Doomfist is one of the best Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes in our books. He can fit within most team comps and matches well with all types of Heroes. He also has a low mechanical requirement, making him a great Hero for beginners and veterans. You really can’t mess up if you decide to play Doomfist.
Junker Queen
Introduce some chaos and scrappiness into your team by using Junker Queen as your Overwatch 2 Tank. She can provide assistance to her team by soaking up the damage and creating space or by rallying them up with Commanding Shout.
Junker Queen excels in close-range scenarios. Her Scattergun can deal most of the damage and back it up with Carnage to finish enemies off. Junker Queen’s Jagged Blade can pull enemies closer, creating opportunities for isolated battles. It helps her control the battlefield because of the current meta’s focus on mobility.
Another reason why Junker Queen is one of the best Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes to use is her ability to prevent enemies from healing. She applies debuffs while healing herself in the process.
Reinhardt
Reinhardt is one of the best Tanks in Overwatch 2 for beginners. His kit is effortless to learn, very forgiving and fits with all sorts of comps. He’s one of the safer picks that’s going to be useful, one way or another.
He is mainly known for his big shields that can seemingly catch everything. His Charge can clear space for the team, making the Damage Heroes’ jobs easier. Reinhardt’s Rocket Hammer hits a wide area which is why it’s so easy to hit enemies with it. Remember to use a bigger crosshair though, to compensate for your wide coverage.
Orisa
Orisa is different from the other Tanks because she can deal a surprising amount of damage from range. Her primary weapon has unlimited ammo (but can overheat) and her Javelin can create space by knocking enemies back. Orisa gains Temporary Health with Fortify and Terra Surge pulls enemies in while charging up before unleashing terrifying amounts of damage.
There’s not much more to say about her. She can output solid damage, is tanky, and can survive even the toughest of scenarios. What more can you ask for in an Overwatch 2 Tank.
Winston
The final entry on our list of the best Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes is Winston. He may not be as flashy or deal insane amounts of damage as some of the other characters, but he can definitely absorb the most damage.
Winston doesn’t require much to be successful. He doesn’t even require you to aim train because his Tesla Cannon will automatically beam to the nearest enemy. He can also create a dome of protection with Barrier Projector or engage using Jump Pack.
Winston is at his best when he activates his Primal Rage. During this time, he gets fully healed and receives a 500 health increase. He can only leap and punch, but that’s everything he needs to unleash a rampage on the enemy team.
Summing It Up
Topping our list of the best Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes is D.Va. Her great mix of offense and defense matched with crazy mobility and wipeout potential, makes her an incredibly strong choice.
