It seems that some new text on the official Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War website, the fine print suggests that the game will initially only launch in the USA and Canada, and the Xbox Series X version will not be a part of the launch versions available.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – A war on regions and one console
It seems that some new text on the website suggests that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is going to be a complex affair for anyone outside of the USA and Canada, and for Xbox Series X owners.
According to the game’s official webpage:
And the same text is repeated at the Buy page for the game.
For now, we know that the game will launch on November 13, 2020 and will release for the PS4, Xbox One, PC. In USA and Canada.
The PlayStation 5 version will release in the Holiday season.
Lastly, the Xbox Series X version is slated for later this year along with a release for the rest of the world.
All of the above information gives us 3 facts.
- On November 13th, 2020, PS4, Xbox One, and PC owners who have USA or Canada accounts, live in the USA, or have access to buying stuff from the USA will be the first to play the game.
- The PlayStation 5 version will release in the Holiday season, but the wording suggests that it may not join the November 13th release date of the previous generation.
- Sometime after the Holiday season in the USA and Canada, we will see the global release in Europe, Asia, etc. Along with the XBox Series X version.
All of this information has further confused fans and has made some believe that the game might not be available for the next-generation consoles despite there already being confirmation that the Xbox Series X is launching in November.
Understandably, fans all over the world, and console owners are all confused with the current wording.
This is a first for the series and people are speculating that the delay to the Xbox Series X version is similar to how Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered was also a PlayStation exclusive for a month before coming to PC and Xbox One.
