WRC Generations

WRC Generations is a racing game from Kylotonn and Nacon that is now available on PC and multiple consoles. Kylotonn has been developing the WRC games since 2015, and the reception for Generations has been quite positive. Like previous entries, WRC Generations runs very well on PC with a decent amount of graphical options to adjust. Despite that, some players are running into technical issues, which can hinder their experience. If you are facing any WRC Generations steering wheel issues, here are a few things we recommend.

Fixing the WRC Generations Steering Wheel issues

Considering this is a racing title, WRC Generations supports various steering wheels for an immersive experience. You can read more about the in-game settings, specific modifications, and more in the documentation provided at this link. Some players are still running into issues, though, where their wheels aren’t being recognized or the ability to change inputs. Here are a few fixes we recommend to address this.

Disable Steam Input

Since the game has native profiles for controllers and steering wheels, it’s possible that Steam Input might interfere with those profiles. It’s best to disable that, and you can easily do so by following the steps below.

  • Make sure the game isn’t running
  • OpenΒ SteamΒ and then open yourΒ Library
  • Here, right-click onΒ theΒ WRC Generations
  • SelectΒ Properties
Right-click in Steam library > Properties
Properties
  • Now, selectΒ CONTROLLERΒ at the left
  • Click the dropdown icon next toΒ OVERRIDE FOR WRC Generations
  • Set it to β€œDisable Steam Inputβ€œ (or Disable Steam Input)
Controller > Disable Steam Input
Disable Steam Input

Now, relaunch WRC Generations, and see if that made any change. For most users, this should fix the steering wheel detection issue and allow the game to load default profiles easily.

Update the Wheel’s firmware and drivers

It’s a good idea to ensure that the drivers and your steering wheel’s firmware are updated. We’ve linked the support pages for the most popular manufacturers below.

Try a different USB port

This suggestion comes from the developers, and trying a different USB port can potentially fix your issues. They’ve also suggested trying a port in the back of the PC.

Force DirectInput for Thrustmaster or Logitech

Finally, you can also bypass manufacturer specific APIs and use DirectInput. This only works for Thrustmaster or Logitech peripherals, though. To enable this, follow the steps below.

  • Launch WRC Generations
  • In the Menu, select Options
  • Select Gameplay, followed by Configure
    • Now, either enable Logitech Wheel API or Thrustmaster Wheel API

If something else worked for you, please share that in the comments below, and we’ll add your suggestion to the guide.

We hope this guide helped fix the WRC Generations steering wheel issue. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments below.

  • Greetings.

If, like me, you didn’t have ffeedback and everything related to it was greyd out in the menus, just try this:

    Open regedit
    Go to:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_046D&PID_C24F

    You will find these keys:
“OEMName”=”Logitech G HUB G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB”
    “OEMData”=hex:03,00,08,10,19,00,00,00

Just change OEMdata’s first vallue from 03 to 43

“OEMName”=”Logitech G HUB G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB”
    “OEMData”=hex:43,00,08,10,19,00,00,00

Load the game and check if FFeedback sliders already work

  • Thank you.
My Fanatec CSL DD 8nm is detected. I have created preset but it just wont turn. Instead it lets me turn with the keyboard. Any idea ?

Everything is updated and I have selected the Steering as controller.

  • Hello, i disabled steam controller inputs but when SG racing shifter is connected i can not still navigate menu. When shifter is disconnected i can navigate in menu, how to solve this issue? Thaks.

  • Hello, i can not navigate in menu when shifter SG racing pro is connected, i did steam input disbled the same problem exist, anyone can help? Thanks.

  • This all should not be necessary, this is poor workmanship and coding from Kylotonn and Nacon and whoever else was involved. I have Grid 2019, and it works nicely with steering wheels from the stone ages to the very latest ones, no fiddling with registry settings and such! I also have Automobilista 2, Dirt Rally 1 and Dirt Rally 2, Project Cars 2 and 3 and all these titles work nicely with my old Speed Wheel 3MT, including games like Mudrunner, American Truck Sim and Euro Truck Sim… what’s so special about this floating cars title that they can barely make it work with even the latest steering wheels and yet claim to be at the helm of sim racing when they haven’t done their homework?! This is a trashy game that has not improved since WRC 7! It’s now an amalgamation of the same floating cars, plus a bunch of controller issues to top it up, a ‘generation’ of something that makes me shake my head in dissapointment.
