Marriage in Bannerlord is one of those mechanics that is often ignored, especially if you’re not playing on Realistic. However, if you do want to set up a royal lineage, here’s how.
Without any mods installed, there are only 2 ways in which you can get married in Bannerlord: By speaking to your romantic interest directly and by speaking to her clan’s leader.
Woo Your Romantic Interest
Bannerlord marriage works much in the same way as it does in real life. That is, if you want to get married, you’ll have to go out there and speak to a potential partner. And similarly to real life – that prospect’s easier said than done.
But don’t worry. Unlike in real life, where the main issue is your lack of rizz. The biggest challenge with getting married in Bannerlord is the broken dialogue system that the game has.
In Bannerlord, every significant dialogue (such as marriage), works on a random chance system. Certain traits can boost your chance, but not by much. Even having a high charm stat doesn’t help you much.
In the end, you’re just going to have to try your luck and hope for the best. If it doesn’t work out, try your luck with the next lady. Or, alternatively, save scum and try again. We’ve all done it, so there’s no shame in it.
Use Ye Olde Tinder (Arrange the Marriage Through Her Clan Leader)
Here’s where Bannerlord marriage gets interesting. You don’t actually have to talk to a lady to get married to her. If it’s more convenient for you, you can talk to her clan leader instead and arrange the marriage that way.
After all, you’re a busy lord. Whether you’re conquering a new settlement, dealing with bandits, expanding your workshops, or crafting a new weapon. There’s only so much time in a single day. With so many activities to do, it’s hard to find the time to talk to a lady.
So, if you find yourself in an army with other lords, why not pose the question to one of the clan leaders instead? Just be prepared to give a hefty dower in the process. But hey, if you have a sizable pool of money stored, then that shouldn’t be that much of a problem.
What are the Prerequisites For Marriage in Bannerlord?
Similar to real life, it’s difficult to get married to a proper lady in Bannerlord if you’re a total bum. Before getting married in Bannerlord, you should have ideally reached the following two prerequisites:
- Have a castle or town belonging to your clan.
- Have achieved at least clan rank 2.
If you have both of those prerequisites checked, then it’s only a matter of finding the perfect woman. Which is obviously Ira, duh!
