GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition is one of the biggest disappointments of the year, and the collection has one of the lowest Metacritic user scores of all time. It’s very sad to see three classic titles relaunch in such a poor state, but Rockstart has acknowledged the issues, and have confirmed that they are working on it. Hopefully, with multiple patches, the games will be up to expectations, and look, and run as fans had hoped. In the meanwhile, PC modders have taken up to the task to improve the game, and fix whatever they can. Here is how you can install the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Simple Reticle Mod.
We have covered a few mods before, including one that fixes the awful rain effect, and another one that removes the white outlines around NPCs, and weapons. Rockstar previously removed the ability to purchase The Trilogy from storefronts, but after the poor launch, have added those back as well. Players that purchased the new collection also received the older versions for free.
GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Simple Reticle Mod
If you have played the new trilogy, you’ll notice how the reticle is a bit distracting. It’s large, and takes up a considerable part of the screen, adding a visual effect that not everyone likes. Players used to the simple dotted reticle can find it annoying, but you can mod it out. The mod has been created by NexusMods user Anon2971.
To install it, follow the steps below.
- Head over to the following link, and download the mod files for the entry you want
- You have to click the MANUAL DOWNLOAD button as shown below

- You will need a Nexus Mods account to download this, so create one (it’s free)
- After the rar file is downloaded, extract it in the following location
Gameface\Content\Paks~mods
- If the mods folder doesn’t exist, simply create one
That is all you need to do, to install the mod. Relaunch the game, and the reticle will be updated to a simple dotted one. You can see some screenshots provided by the mod author below showcasing the normal reticle.

The mod works in all three games, and you’ll need to download the respective mod files for the game as we have explained above. The San Andreas version has been updated to 2.0, so make sure you download the latest mod file, as highlighted above.
