Have you spotted a bunch of presents flying overhead, and don’t know how to make a slingshot in Animal Crossing: New Horizons yet? If you have, then this guide is for you – as we’ll cover how to get the DIY Recipe and how to buy them.
How to Make a Slingshot in Animal Crossing?
To make a slingshot in Animal Crossing, you first need the DIY recipe. Then, once you have learned it, you can craft a slingshot using five pieces of hardwood. As with all the other tools, you can craft slingshots at a normal crafting table.
The DIY recipe for slingshots can be obtained from Nook’s Cranny. You can find it in their store cupboard. The recipe costs 300 Bells to purchase, and you have access to it immediately. You can get hardwood by hitting trees with an axe, that you can either craft yourself or buy from Nook’s Cranny.
Slingshots can also be bought for 900 Bells from Nook’s Cranny. Slingshots will break eventually after you use them for a while, and so you may find yourself running back to Nook’s Cranny often to buy one. That is if you don’t get the DIY recipe from them first.
How to Get The Golden Slingshot?
The golden slingshot is a variant of the original slingshot but as with all golden tools in Animal Crossing, it is much more durable. This means that you can use it a lot more times until it eventually breaks. Golden slingshots cannot be bought, and can only be crafted.
The DIY recipe for a golden slingshot can be obtained by breaking 300 regular slingshots. That’s a lot of slingshots! Once you have broken 300 slingshots, you will learn the DIY recipe for making golden ones. They just require a gold nugget and a regular slingshot to craft.
How to Use Slingshots?
Slingshots can be used to shoot down balloons flying overhead – not annoying villagers. Unfortunately. However, shooting balloons isn’t that easy, and can take some getting used to.
To shoot a balloon, you want to position your character underneath the balloon. The hitbox is quite forgiving, so you shouldn’t worry too much about being perfectly underneath. The hardest thing to do is to make sure that you are vertically underneath it, due to Animal Crossing’s fixed camera angle. To help you can use the right analogue stick to gain a better angle so that you can see if you are in the right spot.
Once you think you are roughly underneath, just tap the A button (or hold it and then release) to shoot a projectile directly upwards. If you managed to position yourself correctly, then the present that was being carried should drop to the ground.
And there you have it! Hopefully, you now know how to make a slingshot in Animal Crossing. If you have enjoyed reading this guide, I have a bunch more that you can check out here!
