How to Upgrade Gear
Before you unlock the ability to upgrade your gear, you should always choose the outfit that has the better stats. While it might not be an ideal way to play for most players, you do not have any choice at the start. Eventually, you will unlock the Room of Requirement and the Enchanted Loom.
Now, you can start upgrading your favorite gear and start making them better. Some Traits can only be infused with a certain level of rarity: Superb, Extraordinary, and Legendary.
Collect Magical Materials
Using the Loom to upgrade your equipment requires magical materials. To get them, you need to either equip Traits or obtain them from beasts. Getting Traits is simple since you have to clear Combat Challenges or enemy camps while exploring the world.
To get magical materials from beasts, you need to rescue, brush, and feed them n the Vivarium. You can find beasts on your map by looking for the paw print icon. This indicates that you can tame the beasts here and rescue them.
Once you have enough magical materials, you can head to the Enchanted Loom and start upgrading your outfits.
Use the Loom
To unlock the Loom, you need to complete the quest ‘The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom‘. Now, you can place the Loom anywhere in the Room of Requirement and start using it. All you need to do is interact with the Loom and select the gear to be upgraded.
Keep in mind that you can only upgrade gear that is either Superb rarity or above. Anything below that cannot be upgraded so you might as well discard them at this point.
