Sonic Origins is set to be the latest entry in the lineup of Sonic Remaster projects. The compilation which brings Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD with a lot of modern-day enhancements and improvements such as a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the ability to spin dash in Sonic 1, and other improvements to make the older games feel like new.
Sonic Origins was announced last year during the Sonic Central and is made to celebrate 30 years of the hedgehog’s speedy journey through time, and with the release of the latest motion picture entry, the blue mascot is not showing any signs of slowing down.
According to the South Korean games rating board, Sonic Origins has been rated for release in that country, this will mean that it’s only a matter of time before we see PEGI, ESRB, and other rating bodies share the game.
As opposed to other versions of the sonic games, these versions of the games will be remastered for modern consoles and won’t rely on emulation, which means that we will be able to get proper HD features and other bells & whistles right off the bat. Perhaps this is why the ports needed more time in the oven and didn’t get a 2021 release date. Only time will tell what release date we get for Sonic Origins.
