Lords of the Fallen lets players choose between 9 different starting classes, and your choice will affect the starting hours of your playthrough, so it might be wise to know what each Class does before opting for it. Let’s take a look at all the starting classes in the game.
In our opinion, The Blackfeather Ranger, Partisan & Hallowed Knight are the best starting classes in Lords of the Fallen for players who are new to the Souls-like formula. For those who are more experienced, the Exiled Stalker might be a better option.
We’ll explain the original intent for each Class in Lords of the Fallen, what kind of character it will shape into in the mid-late game, and whether it is an easy class to get into through this detailed class guide.
Hallowed Knight
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 12 |
Agility | 8 |
Endurance | 13 |
Vitality | 11 |
Radiance | 9 |
Inferno | 8 |
This is your default knight class in Lords of the Fallen, similar to the Vagabond class from Elden Ring. It offers a Sword/Shield combo and grenades for ranged combat.
Having a lot of points in Endurance, it is a very beginner-friendly class and is one of our recommended starting classes for the game. If you are new to soul-like games or are afraid of more complex fighting mechanics in LOTF, pick the Hallowed Knight!
Udirangr Warwolf
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 16 |
Agility | 10 |
Endurance | 13 |
Vitality | 10 |
Radiance | 8 |
Inferno | 8 |
The Udirangr Warwolf is a brute class with the highest STR stat by default and light armor. You will start the playthrough with a massive sword that consumes loads of stamina with each swing.
This Class is perfect for those who want to aggressively hammer enemies with their massive sword and win every bout based on pure Strength. You should not pick the Udirangr Warwolf if you are bad at dodging or moving around with heavy weapons.
Partisan
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 13 |
Agility | 12 |
Endurance | 12 |
Vitality | 12 |
Radiance | 8 |
Inferno | 8 |
Another great class for starters in Lords of the Fallen, the Partisan comes with balanced stats and can be turned into whatever you want. This Class offers a flail/shield combo paired with a crossbow for ranged combat.
The flail might not have a massive swinging radius compared to a sword, but it’s fast and does decent damage. If you do get too close, your shield will save you by tanking the hits.
If you want to test the waters of Lords of the Fallen in the safest way possible, the Partisan is your best bet!
Mournstead Infantry
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 12 |
Agility | 14 |
Endurance | 12 |
Vitality | 11 |
Radiance | 8 |
Inferno | 8 |
This DEX-based (Agility) build offers a spear/short shield combo and a short Javelin for ranged combat. The Mournstead Infantry class is perfect for players who like to maintain their distance from the enemy and rely on pokes and piercing attacks.
You’ll have to scale your Agility if you want more damage from the spear. Overall it’s a decent class, but people who are used to fighting with spears will benefit more from it.
Blackfeather Ranger
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 11 |
Agility | 13 |
Endurance | 11 |
Vitality | 10 |
Radiance | 8 |
Inferno | 8 |
Another starting class in Lords of the Fallen that proves to be both fun and accessible. You’ll have access to an axe/shield combo and a bow as well. The Blackfeather Ranger is fast and deals decent damage as well.
We recommend this Class to beginners who want a fast and versatile character. You can turn it towards Strength or add some spell-casting capabilities to enhance the versatility of the Class further.
Exiled Stalker
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 9 |
Agility | 16 |
Endurance | 11 |
Vitality | 11 |
Radiance | 8 |
Inferno | 8 |
Exiled Stalker has the most fancy animations among all other classes. It completely relies on Agility. You’ll have to master daggers and throwing knives if you want to get good at this Class.
Keep in mind that the Exiled Stalker has light armor and not enough Vitality to tank a lot of hits. This glass cannon will fail if you start taking hits. To take maximum advantage find windows in the enemy’s animations and go in for a few hits. Then back off to a safe distance.
Orian Preacher
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 10 |
Agility | 8 |
Endurance | 9 |
Vitality | 11 |
Radiance | 18 |
Inferno | 8 |
The Orian Preacher has the highest Radiance stat in the game and relies on ranged magic damage. The character won’t have enough Strength / Agility or even Endurance to survive a sudden close bout.
You should only opt for this Class if you are an Advanced Souls player or plan on playing Lords of the Fallen in Co-Op with a buddy who is going to be the main damage dealer.
Pyric Cultist
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 9 |
Agility | 8 |
Endurance | 11 |
Vitality | 9 |
Radiance | 8 |
Inferno | 18 |
This is another advanced class and the only one that has a beefed-up Inferno stat. If you want to do a magic-only run with the catalysts that scale on Inferno then this is going to be the most ideal class setup for you.
Don’t expect anything from the Pyric Cultist in close-quarter fights, as it lacks both Strength and Vitality. Co-op sessions will benefit from this Class more than solo players.
Condemned
Base Stats | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 9 |
Agility | 9 |
Endurance | 9 |
Vitality | 9 |
Radiance | 9 |
Inferno | 9 |
Condemned is your typical naked Souls character for those looking to play the game at the lowest level with the worst gear possible. We suggest new players steer clear of this Class and pick something else.
This is the only Class that starts the game at level 1 and has a bucket and a bunch of throwing rocks for “ranged combat”.
There are a few hidden classes in LOTF as well, and we’ll cover them in a separate guide and mention how to unlock all of them.
While the starting class in Lords of the Fallen can only dictate your playstyle for the first few hours of the game, choosing the right Class is still pivotal for an overall smooth experience regardless of whether you are a newbie or a pro at Souls games.
