PlayStation Blog published a post today that outlined what PS4 accessories will work with the PS5 but that’s where we enter the good news and bad news territory. The good news, all of your PS4 accessories will work, the bad news, you will have to make compromises for each.

What PS4 accessories will work with the PS5? Find out below!

It seems that PlayStation has officially answered the list of PS4 accessories that will and will not work with the PS5. Here is a simple breakdown of each accessory and where you’ll face a limitation.

DualShock 4

It will work with the PS5, but not with your games. This was an obvious statement considering the implementation of haptic controls, the sound engine and other facets of the controller.

You can still play your PS4 games on the PS5 with a DualShock 4 and other accepted Third Party controllers.

The PlayStation Camera

Yes, it will work. However, you’ll need a complimentary adapter that PlayStation will provide at a later date.

The PSVR will still work with the PS5, but the PlayStation Camera will need that adapter to work with the PS5.

PlayStation Gold and Platinum wireless headphones

Yes, they will work, and any other third-party headsets that use USB or 3.5mm headphone jack, but the headset companion app on smartphones will not work with the PS5.

Extra Peripherals (Racing Wheels, Arcade/Fight sticks etc)

All of them will still work on the PS5 without any extra input, also for PS4 backward compatible games.

PlayStation VR and its accessories

A Wired interview confirmed that the PSVR will be compatible with the PS5, that means any PS5 PSVR games that come out will still use the PSVR and all its accessories, sans the Camera and the new Adapter.

It has been confirmed that the PS Move motion controllers, PSVR Aim Controller and all other PSVR components will work with the PS5.

As you can see, the list of supported accessories comes with a catch. The only winners here are the people who bought the PSVR and extra accessories like arcade/fight sticks, or steering wheels.

This was bound to happen as the limits were put in place with the DualShock 3 and the PS4. For now, all we can do is keep an extra DualShock 4 handy for when you want to play PS4 backward compatible games.
