2021 has been off to a relatively disaster-free start so far, which is already good news for those who were witness to the start of 2020. However, there is even better news on the horizon – the prospect of a 2021 Nintendo Direct.

A 2021 Nintendo Direct could be imminent.

While Nintendo had a fairly eventful 2020 despite a global pandemic, it was still a great year for the company. They released a new Animal Crossing, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Pikmin 3, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Paper Mario: The Origami King, and more.

Nintendo’s 2021 offerings appear to be a bit sparse however. We do know about Monster Hunter: Rise and a few other titles, but less is known about the release dates of said titles such as No More Heroes 3.

It seems that you won’t have to wait long to find out what Nintendo has planned for 2021 if the rumors of an upcoming Nintendo Direct prove to be true.

Thanks to the keen-eyed observer, u/Rod-Haroli, who pointed out the following pattern.

According to Visiospark, a site that is used to check when a page is updated or last updated, the past patterns have predicted previous Nintendo Directs.

According to the latest update on Visiospark, the page for Nintendo Direct Archive was updated on 4th of January 2021. A page update here means that Nintendo is preparing a Direct presentation.

It also makes the most logical sense for Nintendo, as this is the start of the year and thus they have to give Nintendo Switch fans something to look forward to in the coming months.

For now, we can’t really say when the Nintendo Direct presentation could be, but fans are optimistic of it happening anytime in the current or next week with a January 2021 window.

As we enter a new year, it’s also a great year for gaming as we can hopefully expect updates on games that Nintendo hasn’t talked about in a long time. Popular titles like Bayonetta 3 or Metroid Prime 4 haven’t been heard from in a long while and do warrant any form of an update.

For now, keep your eyes peeled on Nintendo’s social media for any announcements pertaining to an upcoming Direct presentation.
