FromSoftware games have a tradition of having tough boss fights so players can feel satisfied after conquering them. Since Elden Ring is an open-world game, it features a dynamic day/night cycle. The best part about this is that new enemies and bosses come out depending on the time of day. That is why this guide will take a look at all the Elden Ring night time bosses.

Surprisingly, there are a lot of bosses that only appear during the night. So, if you want to fight them or avoid them, we will show you the location and talk about all the night time bosses. With that said, let’s dive right in and get started.

Elden Ring: All Night Time Bosses

There are a total of 21 night time bosses that you can find across the world of Elden Ring. The best part is that you can start finding these bosses from the starting area all the way to the ending area. Keep in mind that the bosses you find in later areas are quite difficult and can be a pain to deal with. So, make sure that you are prepared to fight them.

Also, since there are multiple variants of the same boss in different places, we will list them in order so that it is easy to follow. For example, all Night Cavalry bosses will be listed in one section, and we will show you the location of each.

Night’s Cavalry

Night's Cavalry boss

There are a total of 9 – technically 10 – Night’s Cavalry in Elden Ring. All of them only come out at night and can be found patrolling different areas of the map. To make it easier for you, we have listed the main area and shown the exact location of the boss.

Limgrave

Location: Limgrave bridge
Reward: Ash of War: Repeating Thrust / 14,400 Runes

The first Night’s Cavalry – or the first night time boss – that you’ll come across is in Limgrave. Since this is a starting area, you will cross this bridge at least once during the night. This boss likes to patrol the area and can be seen from a distance as well. However, don’t let his intimidating looks scare you. His moveset is quite simple and can be easily telegraphed.

Location: Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace
Reward: Ash of War: Barricade Shield / 16,320 Runes

While in the Limgrave area, you will come across a massive location called Castle Morne. You have to go there for the main boss fight anyways, so you’ll come across this Night’s Cavalry without even realizing it. He is patrolling the area next to the Site of Grace, so you shouldn’t have a tough time finding him.

Caelid

Location: East of Caelid Highway South Site of Grace
Reward: Ash of War: Poison Moth Flight / 30,600 Runes

Caelid is an area that is extremely difficult. You shouldn’t go here in the early game since you will have a tough time. Considering that it is right next to Limgrave, some players naturally go here and die over and over again. So, this Night’s Cavalry is a bit difficult as well compared to the ones in Limgrave.

Location: Near Lenne’s Rise Site of Grace
Reward: Ash of War: Bloundhound’s Step / 100,800 Runes

While in Caelid, you will come across another Night’s Cavalry near the Lenne’s Rise Site of Grace. When you travel to this site, go North to the bride. Keep in mind that there is one long bride and one that is smaller. Make sure that you go to the smaller one, or you’ll have to fight a massive dragon. Over here, you can find the second Night’s Cavalry in Caelid.

Liurnia of the Lake

Location: North of Liurnia Highway North
Reward: Ash of War: Ice Spear / 20,160 Runes

Moving on to Liurnia of the Lake, the first Night’s Cavalry you’ll face here is right above the Liurnia Highway North Site of Grace. You’ll have to run through various enemies to reach this boss, so make sure that you are prepared for that. Do not take extra damage, or you can easily die to this boss.

Location: East Raya Lucaria Gate
Reward: Ash of War: Giant Hunt / 20,160 Runes

When you make it through the Raya Lucaria Academy, you will have to go to this area. Once you activate the East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace, you need to keep following the road. After a short walk, you will come across this boss patrolling the path ahead.

Altus Plateau

Location: Southwest of Altus Highway Junction
Reward: Ash of War: Shared Order / 36,000 Runes

Moving on to the Altus Plateau, you can find this boss just southwest of the Altus Highway Junction Site of Grace. Keep in mind that this area is where things will get really difficult. So, make sure that you are well prepared to fight the enemies and bosses here. If you have done everything before this area, you will be good to go, so don’t worry.

Mountaintops of the Giants

Location: Forbidden Lands
Reward: Ash of War: Phantom Slash / 86,400 Runes

Once you are done with the Altus Plateau and the Royal Capital – which is one of the best-looking places in a video game – you will be able to access the Mountaintops of the Giants. Here, you need to go straight from the Forbidden Lands Site of Grace, and you’ll come across this boss.

Location: Southwest of the Inner Consecrated Snowfield
Reward: Night’s Cavalry Helm, Armor, Gauntlets, Greaves / Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone / 201,600 Runes

When you make your way to the Inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace, you will have to head southwest from it. Follow the location shown above and you will find the final two Night’s Cavalry patrolling the area. Keep in mind that there are two bosses that you will have to fight at the same time.

They can be found beside the cart and a few other enemies. To make it easier, you should take out the enemies first before fighting the bosses.

Bell Bearing Hunter

The Bell Bearing Hunter

There are a total of 4 Bell Bearing Hunters in Elden Ring. These are surprisingly difficult boss fights since they can be a bit erratic at times. However, it is extremely fun to parry these bosses and defeat them.

Limgrave

Location: Warmaster Shack Site of Grace
Reward: Bone Peddler’s Bell Bearing / 16,200 Runes

To fight this boss, you need to first talk to Knight Bernahl. After talking to him, rest till nighttime at the Site of Grace. Once that is done, rest again and stop interacting with this site. Keep in mind that you only need to rest without pressing anything else after it is nighttime.

After you stop using the site, you will notice that Bernahl is nowhere to be found. Enter the shack and a Bell Bearing Hunter will appear.

Location: Isolated Merchant Shack
Reward: Gravity Stone Peddler’s Bell Bearing / 120,000 Runes

This boss has no right to be this difficult. I died to him more times than I can count. Just like the one in Limgrave, you need to talk to the merchant and rest till nighttime at the Site of Grace. Then, rest again and get up. Walk into the shack and this boss will appear.

Liurnia of the Lakes

Location: Church of Vows
Reward: Meat Peddler’s Bell Bearing / 21,600 Runes

As you’ve probably guessed by now, you need to do the same process here as well. Speak to Miriel and then rest at the Site of Grace until nighttime. After that, rest again and enter the Church. The hunter will appear and you’ll have to fight him.

Altus Plateau

Location: Hermit Merchant’s Shack
Reward: Medicine Peddler’s Bell Bearing / 72,000 Runes

The final Bell Bearing Hunter can be found in the Altus Plateau at the Hermit Merchant’s Shack. You know the drill, talk to the merchant, rest at the site till nighttime, and rest again. Now, you can fight this monster and defeat him.

Death Bird

The Death Bird boss

The Death Bird is a difficult boss that I had trouble fighting. This boss had no right to be this difficult considering how easy it was to defeat the main bosses. There are 4 Death Birds that you can find in The Lands Between.

Limgrave

Location: East of the Warmaster Shack
Reward: Blue-Feathered Branchsword / 16,800 Runes

The first Death Bird that you’ll probably come across can be found in Limgrave. You can find it near the Warmaster Shack, where you fight the Bell Bearing Hunter. This boss is quite difficult as its movement is erratic. So, make sure that you take your time and learn its pattern.

Location: Southwest of the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace
Reward: Sacrificial Axe / 18,720 Runes

While you are exploring the Weeping Peninsula and the Castle Morne region, you will come across this region. Once you activate the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace, head southwest of it and you will find this Death Bird.

Liurnia of the Lakes

Location: Southeast of the Boilprawn Shack
Reward: Red-Feathered Branchsword / 23,760 Runes

While you are in the Liurnia of the Lakes, you need to head over to the Boilprawn Shack. During the nighttime, head southeast to the location you see in the image above. Over here, you will face another Death Bird. If this is your first Death Bird fight, make sure that you are prepared for it since it can get quite rough.

Altus Plateau

Location: East of the Hermit Merchant’s Shack
Reward: Twinbird Kite Shield / 104,400 Runes

The final Death Bird can be found if you head east from the Hermit Merchant’s Shack. This is the toughest Death Bird that you’ll fight so make sure that you are well prepared for it. Otherwise, you’ll die a lot – and I mean A LOT!

Death Rite Bird

The Death Rite Bird

While the name sounds extremely similar to the Death Bird, these are slightly different bosses. They appear similar and might have a few same attacks but their moveset is quite different. Plus, they are more deadly and can apply various status effects on you as well. You will have to fight 4 Death Rite Birds.

Caelid

Location: Caelid
Reward: Death’s Poker / 54,000 Runes

This Death Rite Bird is one of the most difficult optional bosses that you’ll come across. For some reason, the enemies in Caelid are extremely difficult and have a lot of damage. So, make sure that you dodge its attacks and try to find openings so that you can easily kill it.

Liurnia of the Lakes

Location: South of Gate Town North
Reward: Ancient Death Rancor / 28,080 Runes

This Death Rite Bird can be found just south of the Gate of Town North Site of Grace. Make sure that you level up and have full resources before fighting this boss. While it isn’t as tough as the Caelid fight, it is still quite strong.

Mountaintops of the Giants

Location: West of Snow Valley Ruins Overlook
Reward: Death Ritual Spear / 184,800 Runes

This – alongside the next one – is by far the toughest Death Rite Bird fight. Since this is an end-game area, you need to be kitted out to the max before fighting this boss. If not, you will have a tough time defeating it since it has a lot of HP and insane damage.

Location: Mountaintops of the Giants
Reward: Explosive Ghostflame / 528,000 Runes

The final Death Rite Bird is also found in the Mountaintops of the Giants. This fight is just as tough as the previous one so make sure that you have the correct gear and all the required resources. If you have made it this far in the game, chances are that you will be prepared to fight this monster.

Conclusion

And there you have it; those are all the Elden Ring night time bosses. While there are a total of 21 bosses, it is a bit disappointing that most of them are just a variation of each other. If we remove that, you would only have the option to fight 3 or 4 night time bosses.

However, the good news is that they get more difficult the more you progress. Which night time boss is your favorite? Did you already defeat them all? Let us know in the comments below!
