Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark is now available on PC and consoles, and we thought it was a great return to the survival horror series. The PC version runs decent for the most part and has support for cloud saves as well. However, if you don’t have the best internet connection and want to manually back up your progress, you can do so by accessing the Alone in the Dark save file location.

Alone in the Dark Save File Location

You can find the Alone in the Dark save files at the following address on PC.

C:/Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/AppData/Local/AloneInTheDark/Saved/SaveGames

I recommend backing up the entire SaveGames folder just in case. The save files are stored in the .sav format in the folder.

Faster Navigation

To quickly navigate to this location, I recommend using Windows Run.

  • Open Windows Run by either pressing the Windows R keys together or by searching for it in Windows Search
  • Enter the following address, and press OK
%USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/AloneInTheDark/Saved/SaveGames

Either way, I still highly recommend that you enable Steam Cloud for Alone in the Dark. The file size of the saves isn’t large at all, and if you’re playing the game on multiple devices, then it will come in handy.
