So many players enjoy playing OldSchool Runescape while restricting their accounts, some of these players love creating accounts that will only taste Free To Play.

But, while they set limits to make it more challenging and more interesting for themselves, they still have to use the best Free To Play weapons to reach their desired experience rates per hour.

Some of you might already be aware that even Free To Play has competitive players that measure their EHP through legitimate sites, such as F2P Wiki. Within this community they have created a discord for F2P members for players that would like to be a part of it.

Let’s explore some of the best F2P Weapons in OSRS.

Exploring Stats of Best F2P Weapons

Since its release, there have been small updates that have highly impacted the Free To Play community in OldSchool Runescape. These updates have managed to add some items that have immensely impacted the Pking (Player-killing) community.

We will explore and share the best F2P Weapons in OSRS by their stats, style and usage. But, did PVP worlds become more active in these F2P worlds? Let’s delve into these and rank them by their training and Pking usage.

1

Rune 2-Handed Sword

Rune 2-handed sword

Requirements: 40 Attack
Attack Bonus: Stab -4 | Magic -4 | Slash +69 | Range +0 | Crush +50
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +70 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 4.2s | Actual 4.2s

This 2-Handed Sword is known to be the most used KO (Knock-Out) weapon in OSRS. So many players love to use the 2H Sword for its ability to K0 while in PVP worlds, as if you’re using it as your secondary in combination with maple shortbow you can manage to 1-tick K0 your opponents.

While it’s an amazing weapon to PVP, it is not preferred to be used while training your F2P accounts. In fact, you should avoid using it for training your melee stats, as it attacks very slowly and your experience rates would go down.

The Rune 2-Handed Sword has some impressive stats when compared to other weapons, only Giant Club can match its power and K0 potential within PVP areas.

2

Rune Scimitar

Rune Scimitar

Requirements: 40 Attack
Attack Bonus: Stab +7| Magic -0 | Slash +45 | Range +0 | Crush -2
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +44 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 2.4s | Actual 2.4s

When it comes to the fastest and most important weapon to train your stats with Rune Scimitar is your best choice. This is a weapon that not only is good for your F2P training, but because it is easily acquired many players that are restricted to Group HardCore or other game modes, prefer this weapon for training their stats from 40 Attack to 60 Attack.

The reason this is one of the best weapons in F2P worlds is the speed rate it attacks with and its usage both in PVM and PVP. While some people are appreciative of their rune scimitars, there are others that like to flex and buy ‘Gilded Scimitar’ for 15,210,530 coins (15.2M).

Rune Scimitar can be combined with different weapons when used in PVP, for example:

  • Maple shortbow into R. Scimitar
  • R. Scimitar as primary weapon to R. Battleaxe as your K0 weapon
  • R. Scimitar to Giant Club
  • R. Scimitar to R2H.

3

Giant Club

Giant Club

Requirements: 40 Attack
Attack Bonus: Stab -4| Magic -4 | Slash +50 | Range +0 | Crush +65
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +70 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 4.2 | Actual 4.2s

The Giant Club is mostly used in PVP worlds, but it’s important to note that this weapon was later added to OldSchool Runescape. This two-handed weapon that requires 40 Attack to equip can be obtained as a drop by a boss known as Obor

Giant Club is quite hard to obtain as a drop since it requires a player to access Obor’s Lair, which can only be accessible after obtaining a giant key from killing Hill Giants or Cyclops. This F2P Weapon is not recommended to train your melee stats with, and most like it when used while 1-tick Pking in combination with maple shortbow.

One would only care to know what’s the main difference between the Giant Club and R2H? Well, as they both share identical stats the main difference is between their Slash and Crush bonuses, for example:

  • Giant Club has Slash +50 and Crush +65. Whereas, R2h has Slash +69 and Crush +50.

Making these weapons very useful for different attack styles within the same area – Pking.

4

Maple Shortbow

Maple Shortbow

Requirements: 30 Ranged
Attack Bonus: Stab +0| Magic +0 | Slash +0 | Range +29 | Crush +0
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +0 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 2.4 | Actual 2.4s

The power of Maple Shortbow in Pking is obvious, but how useful is it to train your range in F2P? It actually is the best F2P shortbow to train your range with. Besides its Pking potential, players use Maple Shortbow with Adamant or Mithril Arrows to gain experience and levels.

The only downside to this in Free To Play is that you will have to gather your ammunition manually which is considered to be a pain for the OldSchool Runescape player base. While you might wonder about the weapon speed, it is 2.3x faster than a Giant Club!

If you’re deathmatching, bringing Maple Shortbow would be pretty smart, but remember it does not hit as high as other melee weapons, its max hit at 99 range would be 18 (with Eagle Eye).

5

Brypohyta’s Staff

Bryophyta's staff

Requirements: 30 Attack & Magic
Attack Bonus: Stab +10| Magic +15 | Slash -1| Range +0 | Crush +40
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +50 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 3.0 | Actual 3.0s

This amazing F2P Weapon is comparable to Ancient Staff. This staff has the highest Magic Attack and Magic Defense bonuses.

The staff has an option to be charged with nature runes (up to 1,000) and has the ability to not consume a charge in 1/15 chance. Making this staff a great use within the wilderness or PVP worlds, especially for clans that love to have Free to Play wars in deep wilderness, it saves at least 1 inventory slot while also giving great stats!

6

Rune Longsword

Rune Longsword

Requirements: 40 Attack
Attack Bonus: Stab +38| Magic +0 | Slash +47 | Range +0 | Crush -2
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +49 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 3.0s | Actual 3.0s

This is the strongest F2P longsword and even though the weapon has better melee stats when compared to rune scimitar, it underperforms during training or Pking due to its attack speed.

Rune Longsword is 25% slower than Rune Scimitar, but if you need a weapon that has high stab bonuses and the monster you’re hunting is weak to “stab” then in F2P Rune Longsword is the best choice. Only Pkers that troll would take it into the wilderness.

7

Rune Battleaxe

Requirements: 40 Attack
Attack Bonus: Stab -2| Magic +0 | Slash +48 | Range +0 | Crush +43
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +12 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 3.0s | Actual 3.0s

Another amazing Free to Play weapon would totally be Rune Battleaxe. Even though it might be forgotten by most of the player base, it still serves greatly in Pking. While many players are using combos such as Maple Shortbow into Giant Club, using R. Scimitar to R. Battleaxe is actually a sneaky combo.

Most players do not realize that you’ve changed your weapon and might stay as low as 26 HP, which is considered to be within R. Battleaxes K0 range. Sneaky but useful!

As per training your combat stats, it’s better than R2H and Giant Club but worse than Rune scimmy

8

Staff of Fire

Fire staff

Requirements: No Requirements
Attack Bonus: Stab +3| Magic +10 | Slash -1 | Range +0 | Crush +9
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +6 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 3.0s | Actual 3.0s

It’s amazing how a staff as cheap as 1.6k (1600) coins can be one of the best OSRS mage weapons. Besides the fact that it has no requirements to be wielded, it provides an unlimited amount of fire runes and has the ability to auto-cast, making it an amazing weapon to both train your magic skill and use in PVP.

It also has the option to cast on defensive, allowing you to gain magic, hitpoints, and defense experience simultaneously.

9

Silverlight

Silverlight

Requirements: Demons Slayer [Quest]
Attack Bonus: Stab +9| Magic +0 | Slash +14 | Range +0 | Crush -2
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +12 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 3.0s | Actual 3.0s

Wait what? This weapon has stats that are comparable to steel longsword right? Yeah, that’s correct. But, while this weapon has such stats, when facing demons its maximum hit is increased by 60%, making it a fun weapon to use while killing demons for experience or money.

The Silverlight is obtained by the completion of “Demon Slayer” quest and has no stat requirements.

10

Adamant Scimitar

Adamant Scimitar

Requirements: 40 Attack
Attack Bonus: Stab +6| Magic +0 | Slash +29 | Range +0 | Crush -2
Other Bonuses: Melee STR +28 | Ranged STR +0 | Magic DMG +0.0%
Weapon Speed: Base 2.4s | Actual 2.4s

Now, one would wonder why Adamant Scimitar is in this list? Well, there are accounts that have restricted themselves to be within the world of F2P and they all have to go through 30 to 40 Attack in order for them to be eligible to use R. Scimitar.

Therefore, making Adamant Scimitar one of the best F2P weapons in OSRS, excluding the stats it has, adamant scimitar is one weapon that every Free to Play player should use at-least once. Let’s not forget that there are low level players that stick to their 30 attack pures for higher range levels also!

Conclusion

We love to add some interesting items when it comes to Best F2P Weapons in OSRS, it does make you reflect that some weapons are either forgotten or underrated. The weapon choice was made by different uses and skills, reflecting a short but interesting insight for each item!
