Elden Ring Black Blade Kindred Boss Guide

While roaming the Lands Between, you will come across many strong bosses that will be difficult to defeat. One such boss is the Black Blade Kindred. Due to its high damage and erratic combos, players have a tough time against him. That is why this Elden Ring Black Blade Kindred boss guide will show you how to defeat this mighty foe.

If you are a new player, you might want to ignore this boss for a while. Since it is quite high-leveled and can deplete your HP in a few attacks, you need to know how to fight it. With that said, let’s dive right in and see where you can find this boss and how to defeat it.

Elden Ring: How to Beat Black Blade Kindreds

The Black Blade Kindred is a field boss – and an optional boss like nighttime bosses – that can be found while exploring the map. This is a strong boss that deals tons of damage and can chunk your HP in just a few attacks. Plus, it has many resistances to various attacks so make sure that you are aware of that as well.

What’s worse is that there are two Black Blade Kindreds that you can find in the Lands Between. However, both of them have a similar style so you won’t have problems with the second one. Since these are optional bosses, you can completely skip them without any issues.

However, if you are a completionist like me, you will want to defeat them and show them who’s boss!

Where to Find Them?

Entrance of the Beastial Sanctum

As aforementioned, there are two Black Blade Kindreds that you can find. The first one that you’ll encounter is located just outside the Beastial Sanctum in Caelid. You can find this boss guarding the entrance. So, if you do not want to fight it yet, avoid this area.

If you are familiar with Caelid, you’ll know that this is an end-game area with tons of strong enemies. Despite this area being near the starting area of Limgrave, there are so many tough enemies that can easily one-shot you.

The Forbidden Lands

The second Black Blade Kindred can be found in the Forbidden Lands. You can find this boss guarding the path to the Grand Lift of Rold. To access this area, you need to progress through Leyndell, the Royal Capital. Since this is nearing the end of the game, you need to make sure that you are prepared.

Tips to Beat the Black Blade Kindreds

The Black Blade Kindred guarding the Beastial Sanctum

When you spot this boss from a distance, it is extremely intimidating and scary-looking. As its appearance suggests, you should be extremely careful since it can hit you like a truck and kill you over and over again. So, make sure that you are willing to fight this boss a few times before you can recognize its patterns.

To make matters worse, the Black Blade Kindred is extremely strong against Holy, Fire, Lightning, Slash, and Thrust attacks, Since most players use these types of attacks, you will have a tough time against this enemy. Plus, it is also immune to all status effects as well.

This means that you cannot poison it or apply Scarlet Rot to deplete its HP. You will have to fight it and reduce its HP by hitting it.

The good news is that you can summon your Spirit Ashes to make things a bit easier. While most of your Ashes will not be helpful like in other fights, they can be used to distract the Black Blade Kindred. Find a good opening and hit it with everything you have. Just make sure that you let your Spirit Ashes take aggro again after you hit the boss with your strong attacks.

Melee Build

Firstly, if you are using a melee build, try to stay close to the boss and stay underneath it. If you are near the boss, it will not jump around and use its charged attacks. While Black Blade Kindred can still use those attacks, the chances are quite less.

Wait for the boss to finish its combo before you attack. Make sure that you only hit it twice before getting ready to dodge. While you might think that you can land one more attack, don’t get greedy because if you get hit once, tons of your HP will vanish.

Also, bring weapons with high strike damage to make the most out of them. Try not to use Holy, Fire, Lightning, Slash, and Thrust attacks against it since Black Blade Kindred is strong against them.

Ranged Build

Sorceries or Incantations are strong against this boss and can chunk down its HP easily. The best part is that you will keep your distance as well since you can attack it from a distance. If you want to deal serious damage and defeat this boss easily, make sure that you spam Comet Azur from a safe distance.

Since you will be fighting this boss from ranged, watch out for its charged attacks that can almost instantly kill you.

Mounted Strategy

Usually, mounting on Torrent is the best thing you can do while fighting field bosses. However, in this case, it might not be a wise choice since Black Blade Kindred uses erratic movements that require precise dodge rolls. If you are on Torrent, you will take unnecessary hits and fall down; leaving you wide open.

However, if you want to stay on Torrent, make sure that you use his double jump and dash ability to keep your distance from the boss. Once it is done attacking, gallop toward it and hit it a few times. If you keep your distance too much, the boss will start using its charge attacks which hit like a truck.

The only viable option on horseback is if you want to use magic and attack it with your spells. So, if you are going for a sorcery build, using Torrent can be a good idea in that case.

Rewards

After finally beating these horrific monsters, you will want to know what reward you will get. Fortunately, the rewards are worth it and will help you progress through the main game by leveling up your character. Here is what you get for defeating all of the Black Blade Kindreds:

  • Black Blade Kindred (Beastial Sanctum, Caelid): 88,000 Runes / Gargoyle’s Blackblade / Gargoyle’s Black Halberd
  • Black Blade Kindred (Forbidden Lands): 60,000 Runes / Gargoyle’s Black Axe / Gargoyle’s Black Blades

Despite unlocking the Forbidden Lands after progressing quite a bit through the game, the Black Blade Kindred in Caelid still gives you more Runes. This just goes to show how strong the enemies in Caelid are. So, make sure that you are well-prepared for them or you will have a tough time.

Conclusion

That’s everything you need to know about the Elden Ring Black Blade Kindred boss guide. These bosses are extremely difficult and can be a pain to deal with at first. However, if you follow our guide, you will have an easy time with these bosses and will easily beat them without any problems.
