Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 launched earlier today, and while the new update is filled with a plethora of changes that fans are eager to explore, there is a hidden surprise in the update – PS5 players can now play the game in 120Hz. Whether you’re on 1080p or 4K.

Call of Duty Warzone adds 120Hz support for PS5

Call of Duty Warzone is exactly the kind of game that can benefit with an FPS boost. While the game already supported 60Hz even at 4K on the PS5, Treyarch decided to up the ante and introduce 120Hz for up to 4K and even 1080p.

While there is little mention of the feature, CharlieINTEL has confirmed that the feature is applicable to 1080p and 4K, the two main resolutions that the PS5 can output.

Even though the patch notes explicitly mention HDMI 2.1 being required, HDMI 2.0 will still let you enjoy 1080p and 120Hz.

Call of Duty games have generally been fast-paced and high octane gameplay, paired with fast and furious gunplay. Fans commonly agree that the more the FPS, the better the gameplay experience.

With the inclusion of Crossplay in the game recently, and PC players already playing at similar refresh rates of 144Hz/165 and more, console players can use all the advantage they can against their keyboard/mouse wielding counterparts.

If you have a PS5 and a compatible display, the feature is worth checking out. All you mainly need is a 120Hz display with HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 2.1. While the game would look absolutely spectacular in 4K120, it will be a while before such standards of displays become mainstream, but if you do have the setup for it, there isn’t any reason for you to not try it out.

While the size of the game continues to balloon up with each update, if this is a game you actively enjoy by yourself or with friends, the update is worth taking a look at.

This could be the technical and tactical advantage you have been waiting for.
