According to a newly released earning report by Activision Blizzard, the company does not share optimism in releasing Diablo 4 and/or Overwatch 2 for 2021. While both games have had their fair time of being announced, this does not rule out a private Alpha or Beta testing toward the end of the year.

Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 – Mayhem is scheduled for 2022?

Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 were going to be a refresh of Activision Blizzards two most beloved IP’s. Diablo is a classic dungeon crawler that hasn’t had a new game since Diablo 3 in 2012 (not counting DLC), and Overwatch itself released in 2016.

While both games have enjoyed significant success with active content updates and Overwatch having its own eSports league, fans are getting tired of the game, especially when they came to hear about the new features Overwatch 2 was set to bring.

In addition, Diablo 4 was set to be darker and grittier than Diablo 3, which again made fans ecstatic.

While unfortunate, the entire debacle with Cyberpunk 2077 has sent shockwaves in the gaming community for all the right and wrong reasons.

It’s better for large studios to take their time with a product than to have a rehash of CD Projekt Red’s error.

While a 2021 release date would have been nice for the games to release in, as we are in the first year of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it seems that we will have to wait till May for the proper gaming month to kick off the gaming tone for 2021.

There can be numerous reasons for the delay. but undoubtedly the biggest one would have to be delays due to COVID and how a vaccine is still being slowly rolled out across the world. 2021 will still be a year to test our strength and could also be the year where further delays for other games could occur.

For now, if you are currently playing and enjoying Diablo 3 and Overwatch, there’s no need to worry about either game going anywhere anytime soon. If you see either game on sale, it is definitely worth buying considering the immense amount of content for both games.
