Elden Ring features tons of bosses that you can fight on your journey to becoming the Elden Lord. One such boss – or bosses I should say – is extremely annoying and can take a lot of trial and error to defeat. If you haven’t read the title yet, I am talking about the Crystalian boss fight.

These are optional side bosses that you can fight at your own pace. The Crystalians are spread across the Lands Between – mostly in various dungeons. In total, you will find these bosses in four different places. That is why this guide will take a look at the Elden Ring Crystalian boss guide.

Elden Ring: How to Beat Crystalians

As aforementioned, we will show you how you can beat this boss without any problem and how you have to get to them. Also, keep in mind that, unlike some other boss fights, these are completely optional – like the night time bosses. You do not have to defeat them to progress the story.

Where to Find Them?

As aforementioned, you can mostly find these bosses in various dungeons across the map. The first one that you’ll encounter is located at the Academy Crystal Cave in Liurnia of the Lakes, in the Raya Lucaria Academy. To fight this boss, you must progress through the dungeon until you reach the final room.

Enter the area and the Crystalian will be waiting for you. This is an easy fight but if you do not know the mechanics, you will have a tough time lowering its HP.

The second Crystalian can be found in the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel. This dungeon is located in the northeastern part of Liurnia of the Lakes. You can easily reach this area if you hop on Torrent and ride here. As with most dungeons, progress the area until you reach the final room. Enter it to start the boss fight.

Moving on to the third location of this boss, the Altus Tunnel found in Altus Plateau. While making your way toward the Royal Capital, you will come across this tunnel. It is easy to find so don’t worry about missing it.

This time around, you will fight two Crystalians at once. Since there are two bosses, you might think that this fight is difficult. However, it is just like any other Crystalian fight.

There are three Crystalians in this location.

Finally, you can find the final Crystalian at the Sellia Hideaway. This location is found in North-East Caelid, near Sellia town proper. Keep in mind that the enemies in Caelid are extremely strong despite this area being near the starting area of Limgrave. So, make sure that you are prepared for it and come here last.

The worst part is that you will have to fight not one, not two, but three Crystalians in this dungeon. If you have difficulties with this boss, this fight will be a nightmare for you. However, worry not because we will show you how to defeat them in the next section below.

Tips to Beat the Crystalians

At first, these enemies will not take a lot of damage from your weapons. However, they are quite vulnerable to blunt attacks. Use a weapon that deals blunt damage to lower its armor and then you can use your regular weapon to finish it off.

Since you can summon your Spirit Ashes to help you with these fights, I highly suggest that you use them. Especially against the multiple Crystalians. If you are wondering which Spirit Ashes will be good, you can use the Kaiden Mercenary or Lhutel the Headless to keep the bosses distracted since they are tanky.

Also, keep in mind that each boss wields a different weapon from the one you previously fought.

Once their stance is broken, you can deal damage to this enemy without any issues. They will take tons of damage and are prone to critical strikes as well. Usually, these bosses do not pose a lot of threat but they can deal tons of damage in quick succession. This is especially true for the later boss fights with multiple Crystalians.

In the gank fights, make sure that you focus on one enemy at a time. While this can be a bit of a difficult thing to do, you’ll be used to Elden Ring gank fights by this point. However, there will be times when you will want to switch your focus and target the other enemy. Do not hesitate to do that or you’ll have a tough time.

Plus, always make sure that you keep the other Crystalian in your peripheral or it can sneak up to you and combo you.

Melee Build

If you are playing as a melee character, you will notice that your regular weapons aren’t doing well against this boss. However, if you hit them with strong physical attacks, their armor will break sooner or later. The ideal weapon for this is the Grafted Blade Greatsword or the Bloodhound’s Fang. Both of these swords are quite strong and can easily destroy their stance.

Ranged Build

Since these bosses are weak to physical damage, make sure that you use spells like Comet, Rock Sling, and Comet Azur to damage them. Once their armor breaks, you can whack at them freely with whatever you want.

For a ranged character, the only issue will be to keep your distance. If the Crytalian gets too close for comfort, it might be game over for you. This is especially true for the gank fights later on.

Rewards

After finally beating these creatures, you will want to know what reward you will get. Fortunately, the rewards are worth it and will help you progress through the main game by leveling up your character. Here is what you get for defeating all of the Crystalians:

  • Ring Blade Crystalian (Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel): 3,000 Runes / Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing (1)
  • Crystalian (Academy Crystal Cave): 3,300 Runes / Crystal Release
  • Crystalians x2 (Altus Tunnel): 9,000 Runes / Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing (2)
  • Sellia Hideaway: 7000 Runes / Crystal Torrent

Conclusion

That’s everything you need to know about the Elden Ring Crystalian boss guide. These bosses can be quite annoying at first but if you know how to defeat them, they are a walk in the park. However, be careful as they can still pack a punch, especially in the end-game areas.
