Marvel’s Avengers is a game that could have been great, had it gone through more polishing, better licensing, and was not held back by a lot of difficult decisions that made the game what it is today. The title failed to leverage off the immense IP that it was built upon, and earlier this year, was announced for closure in the coming months. Today marks the final content patch for the game, and the unfortunate end of the title.

Marvel’s Avengers – Going Home Without Going Big

Marvel’s Avengers was a game that had a lot of promise to it, and with the final content update that is set to release today, the title is finally being put to rest, but not before allowing anyone and everyone to play the game, with maxed out and buffed out characters.

Almost all of the cosmetics and other items in the store are now free, and now players can experience what it means to be an Avenger, even if the trip will be short-lived.

While Marvel’s Avengers is a case study in how not to handle a superhero IP, it’s still disappointing to see such a colossal title fail when you remember the budget of the title was nearly $200 Million USD.

Hopefully we get a superhero game in the future that is right up the ranks of Spider-Man, but until then, enjoy the last few days of the title while you can.
