With the launch of the next-generation reaching its peak, we finally have a first look at a few of the launch titles for the PS5, giving us a rough idea of how big games could be on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It comes as no surprise that the game sizes are close to what we are familiar with on the previous generation.

PS5 game sizes revealed – Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls

It comes as no surprise that upcoming game sizes are going to be the same at launch, but there is also a possibility for the install size required to go up significantly.

In a few listings, we already have a first look at the game sizes on the PS5, particularly for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Demon’s Souls, two launch titles on the new console.

Here is what the individual game sizes are:

  • 105GB – Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Ultimate Edition which includes PS4 remaster of Spider-Man)
  • 55GB: Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • 66GB: Demon’s Souls

For a comparison, Demon’s Soul on the PS3 weighed in at a light 8GB, back when a 500GB hard drive could house an entire library of games, but that was not meant to last as the new generation consoles rolled in.

With the PS4 and Xbox One, we quickly learned how rapidly storage devices can fill up, especially with games like Call of Duty taking up almost a quarter of the storage.

It’s also worth mentioning that Demon’s Souls has multiplayer support for up to 2 to 6 people, which helps confirm the online element is coming back to the iconic entry in the series.

The PS5 launches with 825GB of hard drive storage, and if you plan on getting the most value and buying the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition bundle and Demon’s Soul puts you at 171GB, which is roughly 21% of the console storage already utilized.

Considering we have yet to know about expanding the storage on the PS5, this means that you’re going to have to ration your storage sizes very frugally until new storage options become more affordable or available.
