Fortnite 14.40 is the latest weekly update, but this update was going to be unique for a different reason – it will help bring down the games behemoth size of 90GB down to a more modest 27GB.

Fortnite 14.40 update is truly a work of wonder

If Fortnite’s massive file size on PC was a problem for you before, the latest update aims to shrink the game down to a much more humble size.

This was the promise made by Epic Games when they first announced the patch, and many PC gamers were hoping that the patch would deliver the promise of a more smaller file size, Epic Games delivered spectacularly.

Here is another tweet showing the game’s massive size before the update.

Here is a new tweet that shows the size of the game after update 14.40, which is now available for every platform, but the most noteworthy feature is of course for PC users.

While the patch size is enormous no doubt, it does help in making the game size something more manageable, especially for people who are running the game off an SSD.

With Epic Games making a lot of advances for Fortnite, such as a recent update which introduced Ray Tracing on PC, and with plans on bringing the game to the next-generation of consoles, gaming’s biggest Battle Royale continues to show improvements.

The new update also rings in Fortnite’s annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares. Offering new challenges, rewards, and other benefits for people who play the game to enjoy it in an entirely new way, and be rewarded for playing.

There will also be limited time cosmetics that are only available during the spookiest month of the year, which has excited many gamers for the Halloween event.

As the event has just began today, many fans are enjoying the new challenges and rewards that are being given away.

As Epic Games continues to make some bold moves with the recent announcement of making Rocket League a free-to-play title, we can already predict the next-generation early line-up to be full of some old favorites.
