Aging up is a natural thing that every living thing has to go through in The Sims 4. This applies to your pets as well. So, if you cannot wait for your puppy/kitten to grow up, we will show you how to age up pets in The Sims 4.

The best part is that this method works for both cats and dogs, so, you can easily age up pet in Sims 4 regardless of what you have. With that said, let’s dive right in and get started.

Age Up Pets With Treats

Get the Age Up Treat from the vending machine to age up your pet.

The Sims 4 features an ‘Age Up Treat‘ that you can either craft yourself (if you have the relevant skills) or purchase from the vet. If you want to purchase it, you will have to go to a vet clinic (you can easily find it in Brindleton Bay).

Vending machines can be found in every pet clinic.

Once you are in the clinic, look for a vending machine and interact with it. Select the ‘Purchase Pet Items‘ option and a menu will appear. From here, you can buy whatever treat you want. For this guide, we will talk about the Age Up Treat. It costs 150 Simoleons and you can buy multiple.

Once you have it in your inventory, feed it to your pet and they will instantly age up.

Alternatively, if you want to craft this item yourself, you need to purchase the “Dr. Budget-Bandage’s Medico-Vendo-Thingo“. Since you cannot buy the treats directly from the ‘Build/Buy Mode’, you need to get this vending machine.

Alongside this, you’ll also need the “Dr. Magi-Heal’s Medical Vend-o-matic“. Ideally, if you own a vet clinic, you can place these machines there.

Keep in mind that you need to have at least level 6 of the veterinarian skill to craft the treat yourself.

Age Up Pets With Cheats

Aging your pets with cheats is extremely easy and simple.

If you do not want to wait to get the treats, you can use cheats to instantly age up your dogs in Sims 4. Like the treats, this works for both cats and dogs.

  • Enable cheats by pressing the Ctrl + Shift + Alt keys.
  • Enter “testingcheats true” in the cheat input box.
  • Now, type “cas.fulleditmode” and press enter.
  • Click on your pet while holding the SHIFT key and choose the “Modify in CAS” option.
  • You can change their age as you would of your sims.

This is an easy method and you can quickly do it without having to feed them any treat.

Can You Age Down Pets?

You can buy the Age Down Treat from the same vending machine as well.

Luckily, you can also age down all your pets if you want to relive their younger years. Like the previous methods, you can either use cheats to age down your pet or have your sim get the ‘Age Down Treat‘. Just like its counterpart, you can feed it to your pet and their age will go down.

For example, if your dog is an ‘Adult’, you can feed it this treat to lower its age to ‘Puppy/Kitten’. Pets have three life stages: ‘Puppy/Kitten’, ‘Adult’, and ‘Elder’. So, if you want to make your pet younger again, feed them this treat and you’re good to go!

Can You Stop Pets From Aging?

Stop your sims from aging if you don't want them to grow older.

The best part is that you can stop your pets from aging altogether. Like your active sims, you can also stop your pet from aging if you don’t want them to grow older. To do this, you must:

  • Open the main menu of The Sims 4.
  • Go to Settings and choose Gameplay.
  • Press ‘Auto Age (Played Sims)’ and select No.

This will stop all your played sims from aging and they will stay the age they currently are. The good news is that this also includes your pets, so, you can keep them around forever without worrying about them getting older and passing away.

Conclusion

And there you have it; that’s everything you need to know about how to age up cats in The Sims 4. Whether you want to age up a dog or a cat, you can easily do it with the methods mentioned above. Plus, you can also age down your pets if you want them to stay young.
