Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun is out now on PC, and it’s one of the most fun releases of the year. It’s another addition to the recent retro shooter renaissance and features a meaty campaign with enemies from all corners of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The PC version of Boltgun runs quite well with some performance drops here and there. It does lack a key option though, and if you want to disable the Warhammer 40K Boltgun mouse acceleration effect, here is how you can do that.

Disable Warhammer 40K Mouse Acceleration

Mouse acceleration, or in this instance, negative mouse acceleration essentially lowers the speed of the cursor’s travel behavior the faster you use it. This is an incredibly annoying effect and can get in the way of accurate aiming, shooting, and general movement. The game doesn’t have an in-game setting to let you disable it, but we can do so by editing the configuration file.

  • Open Windows Run by either pressing Windows R keys together or searching for it in Windows Search.
  • Enter the following address, and press OK
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Boltgun\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
  • Here, open the Input.ini file using a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++
  • Now, add the following lines to the file
[/script/engine.inputsettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
Boltgun Configuration location in Windows Run
Boltgun Configuration location in Windows Run
  • Save the file (Ctrl + S), and exit out

That is all you need to do, and the next time you launch Boltgun, mouse acceleration will be completely disabled in-game.

If you want to enable mouse smoothing again for whatever reason, even though I advise against it, you can easily do so by removing the lines added in the steps above.

Players running into crashing issues can also address those by following my detailed guide. If you can’t find the setting to change language either, I have a handy guide for that as well.

We hope this guide was helpful and you were able to disable the Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun mouse acceleration effect on PC. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments below.
