How to disable the Days Gone Depth of Field Setting on PC

Days Gone is an open-world survival horror game from Bend Studio. The title originally came out on the PS4 as an exclusive back in 2019 and is now out on PC. It is available on both Steam and Epic Games Store and is published by Sony. The PC port has been reviewed positively by critics and runs well on a variety of systems. There are tons of options too, including native ultrawide support. However, if you want to disable the Days Gone Depth of field setting, here is how you can do that.

Unlike Horizon Zero Dawn that launched in a relatively poor state, Days Gone’s port is very good. There are some bugs, and glitches here and there, but when it comes to performance, you can expect decent frames. It also has HDR support, and if you have a supported screen, that’s definitely the way to go.

Disable Days Gone Depth of Field

Days Gone makes big use of Depth of Field, especially when you are switching gear. It’s a visual effect that a lot of people dislike too, and there’s usually an option to toggle it off. While you can’t directly turn it off on the PC version, a simple configuration file edit can handle it for you.

To do this, follow the steps below.

  • Head over to the following location
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\BendGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
  • Here, open the Engine.ini file using a text editor like Notepad
  • Add the following lines in the bottom
[SystemSettings]
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
  • Save the file and exit out

After you are done, the in-game depth of field will be disabled. You can also disable TAA using another command, but there are reports of missing prompts in the UI, so it’s best to avoid that. Since this is an Unreal Engine 4 title, it’s easy to disable a bunch of graphical settings like this.
