Your aim sensitivity is one of the most important things in Valorant. Follow our guide to find the best aim sensitivity for you in Valorant 2021.

Your aim sensitivity in-game will determine how fast or slow your screen moves as you move your mouse. Aim sensitivity will differ from player to player and will mostly come down to personal preference.

Copying another player’s sensitivity could work for you, but it’s still better to find your own sensitivity. Again, this is because other’s sens are fine-tuned for their preference and aim style.

There are different factors that you should consider when trying to find your perfect aim sens. Some of these factors include grip style, mouse size, and even your mouse pad length.

Here are a few tips and things you should know to find the best aim sensitivity for Valorant in 2021.

Different Types of Mouse Sensitivities

There are a few types of sensitivities that you should know about. All of these are related and play a factor in how fast your mouse moves in-game.

DPI

You will likely see the term DPI on the packaging of most gaming mice. Some mice even boast their very high DPI support, like the Logitech G Pro Wireless and the Razer Viper Ultimate, which supports 25,600 and 20,000 DPI, respectively.

DPI or Dots Per Inch is the standard measurement for mouse sensitivity. DPI is the speed that your mouse cursor moves on your screen relative to the distance you are moving the mouse. This basically means that the higher your mouse’s DPI, the more it will move across the screen when moved a specific distance.

In its simplest form, it’s the speed your cursor moves when using it at your desktop. I suggest just choosing the DPI that you are comfortable with. It helps a lot that you use a permanent DPI since you don’t have to change it every time you play Valorant.

Most gaming mice nowadays should support around 400 to 1200 DPI. A comfortable DPI for you will likely depend on your monitor size. On my 1080p monitor, I prefer 1000 DPI. This is a comfortable DPI for me since it allows me to reach certain places on my desktop without moving my mouse a lot.

I suggest trying out the different presets of your mouse and finding what’s most comfortable for you to use. Some mice also allow you to choose a specific DPI number using their app, so you can use that too.

Make sure to remember what DPI you set your mouse to since we will need it later.

Windows Mouse Settings

The Windows Mouse Settings are separate from your DPI settings. These settings can be found by accessing the Mouse Properties. You need to check these settings since these can greatly affect your sensitivity in-game.

To find your Mouse Properties, simply go to the Windows Search and type in “Mouse Settings.” Click on it, and then under “Related settings,” click on “Additional mouse options.”

You should now be looking at your Mouse Properties. At this point, just click on the “Pointer Options” tab where your pointer speed and enhance pointer precisions settings should be.

What you’ll want to do here is to check that your pointer speed is at the 6th spot. You’ll also want to make sure that you don’t have enhance pointer precision enabled since it will mess with your aim.

Turning off Enhance Pointer Precision and selecting pointer speed

Enhance pointer precision is a type of mouse acceleration where the speed of the cursor adjusts depending on how fast you move your mouse. This feature will make your flicks and other movements inconsistent. In addition, having this feature turned on will make it harder for you to build your muscle memory and a more difficult time aiming.

After checking both settings, you should be set to hop into Valorant and find your perfect aim sensitivity.

Valorant Sensitivity

Your Valorant Sensitivity is the in-game settings affecting your aim sens. There are only three settings that you’ll have to change in Valorant. Sensitivity: Aim, Scoped Sensitivity Multiplier, and Invert Mouse.

Valorant Aim Sensitivity Settings

The Sensitivity: Aim setting is simply your aim sens in Valorant. This determines the speed at which your screen moves while in the game. This is what you will be tweaking a lot as you find the best aim sensitivity in Valorant. The aim sens setting ranges from 0.01 to 10 and can even be as precise as three decimal points.

Scoped Sensitivity Multiplier is the speed at which your screen moves when you are scoped in. Usually, players like to keep it close to 1. This makes your scoped sensitivity basically the same as your normal aim sens.

Finally, the Invert Mouse setting essentially inverts your mouse movement. For the most part, you’ll just want to leave this off. But if you want, you can still try and turn it on and see if that feels comfortable. However, most players just leave this setting off.

eDPI

eDPI is a more precise and universal way of measuring a player’s aim sensitivity. It stands for Effective Dots Per Inch and is a widely used term in the gaming community. To find a player’s eDPI, you can simply use one of the numerous eDPI calculators found online. You can also just multiply your Valorant sensitivity and your mouse DPI to find your eDPI.

Players use eDPI to determine their real mouse sensitivity. As long as you have the same eDPI with another player, you’re essentially playing on the same sensitivity. It doesn’t matter if you have a different DPI and Valorant sensitivity.

The eDPI is what we will be using to find the best aim sensitivity in Valorant 2021.

Finding the Aim Sensitivity for Valorant in 2021

High Sensitivity or Low Sensitivity

It can be hard to find a good sensitivity the first time you play. Most beginners just go with the stock settings, but that’s not the most efficient way to find your sens.

Valorant has some slower movement mechanics and low mobility than games like Overwatch and CS: GO. This makes a lower sensitivity better and the recommended sensitivity to use.

The first thing you have to do is determine whether you prefer high sens or low sens. Players like Hiko, Asuna, and ZachaREEE are good examples of high sens users, with their eDPIs all 400 or more. On the other hand, low-sensitivity players like Brax, SicK, and crashies all have an eDPI lower than 200.

Using pro players’ eDPI is usually an excellent place to start and a reasonable basis for what usually works in the game. The average pro player eDPI for Valorant is around 280. So it’s a good number to keep in mind, but you still have to find your own sensitivity settings.

A good way to find out if you are a high or a low sens type of player is to try it out in The Range. You can first try an eDPI of 500 as your starting high sensitivity, an eDPI of 200 as your starting low sensitivity, and an eDPI of 350 as your middle ground.

To find the corresponding Valorant sensitivity for these eDPIs, all you have to do is divide the eDPI by your current mouse DPI. The answer to that is what you have to input in the Valorant settings.

Finding Valorant Sensitivity using The Range

Try them all out by shooting the bots in The Range. After killing a few bots, you should already have a good feel for what sensitivity you like. Once you’ve found the sens you are comfortable with, remember sensitivity since we will be using that to fine-tune your sens later.

You can find success using high and low sensitivity settings, so just make sure to pick the sens you are comfortable with.

Fine-Tuning Your Sensitivity

At this point, you should already have a good idea of your baseline eDPI and Valorant sensitivity. Now, the trick to fine-tuning your sensitivity and truly making it your own is to make incremental changes to it and testing it out.

Let’s say you ended up with a Valorant sensitivity of 0.35. First, you should add 0.1 to it, making it 0.45, and try that out. Next, subtract 0.1 from 0.35, making it 0.25, and try that out. Now, compare all three sensitivities and determine which of the three you like the most.

If you end up liking 0.45 or 0.25 better than 0.35, take that new sensitivity and make it your new baseline. Now you’ll add and subtract 0.1 to that number and compare the three sensitivities again.

Valorant Sensitivity Settings after adding 0.1 to fine-tune the sens

Continue adding and subtracting 0.1 to each sensitivity until you end up being most comfortable on your baseline sensitivity.

Once you feel like you’ve already found a good sensitivity, you fine-tune it even further by reducing the increments to something like 0.05 and so on. The lower the increments you add and subtract will result in a better and more precise aim sensitivity.

Repeating this method until you are truly comfortable with the sens is how you can find the best aim sensitivity in Valorant. The best thing about this method is that it’s not limited to Valorant and can even be used in other games.

Doing this will help you find the best valorant aim sensitivity for you this 2021.

Extra Tips and Reminders

Don’t Copy Other Players’ Valorant Sensitivity Settings

I can’t stress this enough. Copying other players’ sensitivity settings grants minimal benefits; what works for them likely won’t work for you. There are too many factors that contribute to your aim sensitivity. It’s almost impossible to find another person with the exact same equipment, aim style, and playstyle as you.

Just be yourself and find the sensitivity that fits you and your aim style. Your own sensitivity will always be better for you than another players’ sensitivity.

Stick to your Valorant Sensitivity

Aiming isn’t something that you can get overnight. Players with godlike aiming abilities such as TenZ, Wardell, and Shroud didn’t get their aim in one day. Instead, they practiced and played for hours upon hours before being the players we know today.

Aiming is about building your muscle memory enough that it becomes natural to you. Most of the insane flicks and plays we see pro players make are almost automatic, thanks to the muscle memory they built years ago.

This is the same reason why sometimes even pro players themselves get surprised with their insane flicks.

Getting a headshot kill in Icebox A Screens in Valorant Deathmatch

Don’t change your sensitivity settings because you had a bad day and aren’t hitting your shots. Changing it could be a temporary fix, but it will hurt you in the long run. Practice is always the key, so make sure you always hop into a deathmatch game or two before playing competitive games.

Find the Perfect Crosshair

Your Valorant crosshair is just as important as your sensitivity. It guides you as you aim, and it’s essential to find a crosshair that fits you. Even pro players have different crosshairs. There may be some similarities, but most are usually unique and perfect for that specific player.

Make sure to find the best Valorant crosshair settings for you to maximize your aiming abilities.

Get A Decent Mouse

Different gaming mice have different sensors. These sensors can sometimes make or break your aim, depending on their quality. This is why most pro players have similar mice to each other. These are usually the best gaming mice for Valorant, thanks to their excellent and reliable sensors.

Mice with bad sensors could sometimes be inaccurate and unreliable. This can also contribute to the times you feel like you should have hit your shot but missed. If you are really focused on improving and getting better at Valorant, make sure that your gaming mouse isn’t holding you back.

Make Sure You Have Enough Space

Some people think that mousepads aren’t worth investing in. That any simple surface would suffice. However, they couldn’t be farther from the truth. It’s essential to get a good mousepad since it does contribute to your aim.

Make sure that you have enough space on your desk to make those insane flicks and clutch plays. The popularity of desk pads has increased in recent years due to the amount of space they provide you with.

A good rule of thumb is to make sure that one full swipe over your mousepad will allow you to do a 360-degree turn or more. This ensures that you have adequate space and that your sensitivity matches your available mousepad space.
