Knockout City is a multiplayer dodgeball game from Velan Studios and Electronic Arts. It is currently available on multiple platforms including PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, and more. It features cross-play from the get-go and is free to try out till 30th May 2021. The reception has been strong so far, and it has an overwhelmingly positive score from Steam users. There are some technical issues, but nothing too egregious. If you are running into the Knockout City crash at launch issue, here is how you can fix that.
Cross-play support isn’t limited to just PC and consoles, but works with Steam, and Epic Games Launcher as well. This ensures that players can get into matches fairly quick, and the general player count remains healthy. We will have to see how the studio keeps the game fresh after the free period is open.
Knockout City crash at launch issue
Some users on Steam have reported that they are running into a crash at launch. The developers have responded to do this, and for the most part, it should be a simple fix. The game isn’t exactly demanding, and runs well on a variety of systems. Here are a few things you can try to fix it, and start playing.
Manually update your GPU Drivers
This is what the developers have recommended, and it’s imperative that you do so. The latest drivers provide support for the title, and will not only improve stability but performance as well. You can download the latest drivers from the links below.
Verify Integrity of Game Files
If the first method didn’t work for you, then you can verify the game files. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Open Steam, and navigate to your library
- Here, right-click on Knockout City
- Now, select Properties
- Here, click on the LOCAL FILES tab
- Select Verify integrity of demo files
Update your Windows
Another fix that worked for plenty of users was simply updating their Windows. This is simple, and you can do so by following the steps below.
In Windows Search type “Update”, and click on Check for Updates
- This will take you to the Windows Update section, and you can make sure you are on the latest version
- You will most likely have to restart your PC after this, and there will be some installation before you log in to Windows

does the steam version need origin to run? at the risk of getting ahead of myself – should that be on this list: “verify your copy of origin and try launching KO City again”..?
yeah, I believe Origin still requires it
