Stardew Valley is a cozy farming game where you get to plant crops, raise livestock, mine ores, and fish aquatic resources. But fishing does not stop there. You can also make Caviar in Stardew Valley when you raise a sturgeon fish on your farm.
Making Caviar requires specific steps and patience to obtain. It is one of the items needed for the Missing Bundle in the Joja Mart. If you are trying to complete the bundle, you may be wondering how to get Caviar in Stardew Valley.
Build a Fish Pond
The first step to making Caviar in Stardew Valley is building a Fish Pond. You can ask Robin to build a Fish Pond at the Carpenter’s Shop.
Before going to Robin, these are the things you need to build a Fish Pond:
- 5,000g, 200 Stone, 5 Seaweed, and 5 Green Algae.
- An empty 5×5 space at your farm.
It will take two days for Fish Pond to be completed.
Catch a Sturgeon
While waiting for your Fish Pond to be built, you can hunt for a sturgeon to cultivate at the pond. If you are playing co-op with someone, you could try to ask them first if they caught any sturgeon to save you time.

Place the Sturgeon in the Fish Pond
After catching a sturgeon, you can now add it to an empty Fish Pond. You can only add one sturgeon at the start. However, the pond’s capacity will increase every time you give the item that the sturgeon requests.
Every few days, the sturgeon in the pond will request items for their population to grow. These are the things that you need to prepare to give to the sturgeons:
- 1 Diamond
- 1 Jelly, 2 Maple Syrup, or 1 Pickles
- 3 Omni Geode
- 1 Nautilus Shell
Harvest Sturgeon Roe
If you already have a sturgeon in the pond. You will have the chance to get Sturgeon Roe from the sturgeon every day. Sturgeon Roe is the main thing you need to make Caviar.
It is not guaranteed to get Sturgeon Roe from the pond every day. The more sturgeons in the pond, the higher the chances of getting Sturgeon Roe from them.
Make Caviar
Now that you have Sturgeon Roe, you can now make Caviar in Stardew Valley. All you need is a Preserves Jar. Just simply put the Sturgeon Roe in a Preserves Jar then wait.
You now have your first hard-earned Caviar in Stardew Valley. If you are lucky enough, it could randomly be sold at the Travelling Cart for 1,500 to 2,500g.
