Genshin Impact is one of the most successful action-adventure titles of the past year and continues to improve with more content. The company managed to earn over $2 billion in its first year. Now, the latest version is upon us with version 2.2, which will be available in a couple of days. If you want to manually update to Genshin Impact 2.2, you can follow this guide.
The “Gamer Verification Error“ is also one of the most common issues of the game, and you can follow our guide to fix that as well. We will be updating that for version 2.2 as soon as the update goes live.
Manually update to Genshin Impact 2.2
Many users run into issues with updating from the launcher. We highly recommend manually updating, as it makes the process easier, and allows you to use your preferred download manager.
Note: This guide assumes that you are currently on version 2.1.
Required Downloads for 2.2
Download the following files, which are for version 2.2
Note: You don’t need to download all audio files. Only download the ones you need. However, keep in mind that you still need at least one. Also, please make sure to download the audio patch of the language your Windows is set to, meaning, you will need the English pack if that is your default language.
- 2.2 Patch (5.16 GB)
- Chinese Audio files (256.67 MB)
- English Audio files (323.01 MB)
- Japanese Audio files (331.29 MB)
- Korean Audio files (251.66 MB)
We highly recommend downloading these using a download manager, and not just Chrome.
Updating to 2.2
After you have downloaded the required files, we can now move to the installation process.
- Open the Genshin Impact launcher, and ensure that it is updated. We are referring to the launcher version, and not the game version. Simply launching the game launcher will let you update it, so do that once.
- After that, click on the Update button, and then click Pause, after a few seconds.
- Close the launcher, and make sure it isn’t running in the background. You can also check if it is running in the taskbar, close it from there too.
Now, head over to the following location
C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game\
- In this location delete all the .zip_tmp files (temp files that were downloaded when you hit the Update button)
- Copy the files you previously downloaded in the “Required Downloads” heading, and paste them in the following location (the patch file for 2.2, and the audio files)
C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game\ (or wherever the game is installed, just make sure it is in the Genshin Impact Game folder)
- Open the launcher, and it will say Pre-installation done
Important things to consider
- DON’T EXTRACT THE FILES. Please don’t extract the files, because if do so, you won’t be able to play the game until patch 2.2 is live
- Pre-installation done means that you can keep playing the game until the patch is live
- If you are following this guide after 2.2 is live, it will say Update instead of Pre-installation done. Click that, and it will install these files

I have one question , after the 2.2 patch is live , i still want to avoid using the launcher for installation stuff, mainly because im running a hard disk. So if i manually unzip the zip.tmp files with winrar , will it cause any problems? (i mean after the patch is live ofc)
After the patch is live, you can safely unzip the files, and directly run the game using the executable 🙂

I’ve downloaded 3 files: The Patch, EN audio, and JP audio. Put it on the game folder. And at the launcher it says “Game Pre-Installation 92%, (5.82GB/6.30GB)”. Should I download all the audio packs? Tho I only need the EN and JP audio.

The launcher update can’t be 32 GB, that’s most likely the full game.
yes i know,i play in 2.1 and when i try to preupdate it yes I know, I played the previous version 2.1 and when I wanted to pre update the launcher asked for a 32gb update even though all the game files were complete

I downloaded the patch file and it bloated from 5.2GB into 5.4GB after the download was finished for some reason.
And I couldn’t even copy the zip file to the game folder, so I needed to download the zip file directly into the game’s folder.
Even then, after I ran the game’s launcher it still forced me to download the game again. The full 27GB game files.

Thank you for the guide! I just had a question, if I manually extract the files somewhere on my pc, can I just copy the extracted files over to the games directory? Should it replace over the existing files? I can’t seem to up able to install the update using the launcher because it fails after verification and tries to download 22 gigs right after

Previously I found an error failed unzip at the game version update, and it was done after repairing files, but the game didn’t want to run after pressing the Launch button and Run As the exe game file, even on the Task Manager there was no indication of this game is running.

And one thing that u should add is the naming of the file is important. Even if for some reason u download the file twice and ur pc adds the second file a number at the end e.g 2 to distinguish btw the two identical files and u copy the file to genshin impact game folder when running the launcher the game will start downloading again. So dont download the files twice or use a copy of the files it will mess up the naming
for me the launcher says get game and i was playing the game (2.1) yesterday all normally i even tried preinstalling the patch but it also said i need 26 gb, will this also work?

don’t use launcher, you can do this step . First open folder C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\ then find the genshin.exe and run it.

You need to download the files again, or if you can get into the game, try repairing the files by clicking the gear icon in the main menu
After i download all the file, seems like i still need to download a few others from the luncher. the file you provided is 5.16gb while the update file in launcher is 5.48gb. Should i just continue download? Btw, i already download the audio file too. Where should i put the audio file?
