The Callisto Protocol

The Callisto Protocol, the debut title from Striking Distance Studios, has been out for a few days now on PC and multiple consoles. The reception has been a bit mixed so far, and while the PC version launched in a poor state, a recent patch has addressed the major stuttering concern. It’s a pretty demanding title, and you need a fairly powerful system to maintain a stable framerate. Though, if you’re concern is getting into the game faster, here is how you can skip the Callisto Protocol intro videos and save a few seconds.

After you launch The Callisto Protocol, you’re greeted with a few logos, you know, the usual stuff. Sadly, you can’t skip these and have to watch them every time, and they do take a bit. Here’s how you can save some time and get rid of these, and boot straight to the Main Menu.

  • Open Steam and then your library
  • Here, right-click on The Callisto Protocol
  • Click Manage
  • Then select Browse local files
Steam library > The Callisto Protocol > Properties > Browse local files
Browse local files
  • This will take you to the location The Callisto Protocol is installed in
  • Navigate to the following folders
TheCallistoProtocol\Content\Movies
  • Here, delete, rename, or move the following files. I personally deleted the files.
AMD_Logo_4K.bk2
Bink_Krafton_SDS_Logos.bk2
Bink_Krafton_SDS_Logos.uasset
Intro_logo_Krafton_SDS.bk2

Unreal_InstaLOD_logos.bk2

After you’re done, launch the game again, and you’ll see how it basically takes you straight to the menu, and you won’t have to sit through the videos again. Here is a demonstration of how fast the game boots after you’ve gotten rid of these files.

It’s possible that after the game is updated, or if you verify the game files, you’ll have to do this again. An easier way to avoid that is to rename the files rather than deleting those.

If you’re running into any crashes at launch or during gameplay, make sure to refer to our guide for some tips. I’ve also written a guide on reducing stuttering in-game and improving your overall experience. The developers are working on updating the title, and the patch recently released improved the PC port significantly, and I was able to play all the way through.
