How to skip the God of War Intro Videos on PC

2022 is off to a great start for PC gamers, with console exclusive titles making their way to the platform. This month alone both Monster Hunter Rise, and God of War have made their way to PC, and both titles have been incredibly successful. Despite the small gap between release dates, the games reached huge numbers on Steam, and continue to grow. God of War especially has been praised for the quality of its port and rivals many other third-party AAA releases in recent years. It’s refreshing to see a game launch with only minor issues, and that too from a studio that has been developing console exclusive titles. If you want to skip the God of War Intro Videos though, here is how you can easily do that.

Skip the God of War Intro Videos

If you are sick of seeing the initial splash screen logo and want to get in a tad bit faster, you can easily skip that. To do so, simply follow the steps below.

  • Open Steam and then your library
  • Here, right-click on God of War
  • Click Manage
  • Then select Browse local files
You can browse local files to get to any location for a Steam game, allowing to you skip the God of War intro videos

  • This will take you to the installation location of God of War
  • Here, navigate to the following folder
\exec\cinematics
  • In this folder, delete or rename the following file
ps_studios_long_strawberry_4k30_006.bk2

That is all you need to do, and the next time you launch the game it will skip this initial splash video.

There are a few minor issues that the developers are already addressing. Some AMD users have also reported that they aren’t getting the performance they expected, and NVIDIA equivalent GPUs are doing better. The quality of this port compared to most modern PC releases is still far better. It also includes a plethora of options too.

We hope that Sony releases even more titles on PC. Uncharted 4, and Lost Legacy have already been announced for the platform, and with time, we hope to see more games like Bloodborne, The Last Guardian, Ratchet, and Clank, and more to come out on PC as well. For now, though, you can play God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Days Gone.

  • I think this doesn’t actually reduce any time. sure, there’s no video but the wait time is the same.

    At least you don’t have to hear the really bad sound quality. What’s up with that? The quality is stupidly poor.

    I belive it can be done via a Lua script injector.
