To solve the puzzles that require the Koboh Grinder, you must first unlock this ability. You will automatically unlock this ability during chapter 3 when you are exploring the Devastated Settlement. Once you unlock it, you can safely complete the Orb Amplifier puzzles without any issues.

Koboh Grinder allows BD-1 to spray Koboh matter and solve various energy stream puzzles. When you see an energy stream, stand next to it and enter BD Visor mode. Shoot the Koboh matter from the stream to the source by holding the fire button. Once the matter connects, the path will be set on fire and clear.

Now, you can easily progress through the area without anything blocking your path. Plus, you can even backtrack to certain areas and use this to unlock them and find out what was hidden behind the energy stream puzzle.
