Early in the game, you’ll come across a puzzle where you’ll have to take a tile out of a well. That is why we will show you how to solve the well puzzle in Alone in the Dark.

Keep in mind that we will discuss spoilers so if you want to avoid them, we suggest trying to solve the puzzle on your own. With that said, let’s dive right in and get started.

Alone in the Dark: How to Solve the Well Puzzle

Since you cannot solve the puzzle the first time you come across it, you’ll have to progress through the game a bit.

For now, ignore the well and enter the building to go ahead. Then, keep progressing until you see a cutscene and you enter the French Quarters. From here, the path is linear but you’ll have to fight a few enemies. This is where you’ll be introduced to the combat in the game.

Once you get out of this area, you will have to make your way back to the well again. Open the parlor door with the newly acquired Batiste’s keychain and try to exit the room. The room will be flooded and you’ll have to collect the bolt cutters to unlock the door.

Now, make your way to the yard to open the tool shed with the bolt cutter, and pick
up a water hose extension.

Now, you’ll have to add the water hose extension to the yellow water hose on the ground. Then, follow the pipe and turn on the valve on the faucet. This will cause the bucket to rise and you can easily collect the Broken Tile to progress.

Conclusion

And there you have it; that’s how you can solve the well puzzle in Alone in the Dark. Since the game features a lot of puzzles, we will show you the solution to all of them so that you have an easier time.
