In spite of a few production hiccups, the new title from Endnight seems to be looking promising. While the game is expected to come with top-of-the-line functionality, we might have to give up on some essential features.
With that being said, it is only fair for players to assume that the new title is going to be cross-platform like PUBG right? Unfortunately, the answer is rather vague.
If its predecessor has something to say then it’s safe to assume that Sons Of The Forest won’t be shipping with cross-platform compatibility. However, the game will still be playable among different generations of consoles.
Needless to say, an official announcement will reveal it all. While we wait for that, here is some useful information that might indicate cross-platform compatibility for Sons of Forest.
What is Sons of The Forest?
The Sons of the Forest is the sequel to the widely loved series called The Forest. The game is supposedly set in the same worldline. However, the scale of the game is much more grand and lavish. That being said, here is the official trailer:
As one might expect, the graphics of the game look stunning enough to put most AAA titles to shame. Furthermore, the survival / horror theme is the perfect addition to the 2014’s terror title.
What Is Sons Of The Forest Release Date?
While the game was expected to release on 20 May 2022. But, in keeping with developers and their ability to not commit to deadlines, Endnight too, delayed the game to a later date on October 2022.
Since development seems to have continued, there is a slight chance that a few QOL improvements will be added. However, don’t expect major features like cross platforms to be added at the last stages of development.
Sons of The Forest: Is It Cross Platform?
The developers themselves have not released an official statement. But, we are hopeful that the game will probably have cross-platform compatibility. However, is this feature even needed?
As it turns out, cross-platform compatibility allows users from different platforms to interact and play with each other. For example, a PC player might be playing with Xbox players while PlayStation 4 players might be doing the same with PC and vice versa.

Cross Generation Compatibility
The game is expected to ship with cross-generation play at the very least. For those unaware, cross-gen play allows you to play the game on a next-gen console with the players from the older generation of the same console family.
For example, an Xbox Series X or S player can lobby up with Xbox One players. Consequently, the same is possible for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, the inverse is not possible.
Cross-Save in Sons of The Forest
This feature usually comes hand in hand with crossplay. It essentially allows you to play the game on one platform to have it saved on every other platform. While it is a great feature to have, the chances of cross saves being launched with the game are rather bleak.
This is because cross-save requires you to implement crossplay as well and the latter is easier said than done. If the Forest, the developer’s project was to be taken as any sort of primer, it’s safe to assume that we’re not getting any form of cross-save.

While there have been no major leaks regarding Sons of The Forest, Endnight Games have revealed some really pretty screenshots and trailers for the game.
As mentioned, the game has been postponed to October 2022 due to delays in production. However, the long-time fans of the game have been rather in-peace with the move.
With that said, more information will start to surface once we reach closer to the release date. Therefore, we recommend you keep your eyes peeled for it.
All in all, Sons of The Forest is yet to be released. Therefore, there is no concrete answer to the cross-generation compatibility as of yet. However, more announcements will start to surface with time, bringing in more news about the highly anticipated title.
