Nintendo has announced the latest addition to the Nintendo Switch lineup, the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model). Despite rumors of significant hardware updates, the recently announce model doesn’t add too much to the already existing console. The reveal is surely disappointing for those that wanted to upgrade their existing switch, but there are simply not enough reasons to do so at the moment. Here is everything revealed about the Nintendo Switch 2021 model.
Nintendo Switch 2021 additions?
Like we previously mentioned, the new Switch costs $50 more than the current model, and there are a few additional features. These include the following.
- OLED Screen: Arguably the biggest update, which was rumored for some time now. This is a huge improvement over the original screen, and one of the highlights of the new console.
- Wide adjustable stand: This is an improvement the current stand in the Switch, that can barely hold the console.
- Enhanced Audio: The new model has better speakers, resulting in better audio quality overall.
- 64 GB Internal Memory: An upgrade from the previously 32 GB internal memory
- Built-in wired LAN port
All of this comes for a price of $350. Now, if you are someone that still hasn’t bought a Switch, these upgrades are definitely worth the extra $50, however, for someone that already has a Switch (V2), there simply isn’t enough to warrant an upgrade.

Initial rumors suggested that the new model would have 4K Support and a DLSS like feature to improve performance. Sadly, only the OLED and LAN Port bit of the rumors came true, and it’s a bit disappointing to know that upcoming games will run on essentially the same hardware.
