Portal with RTX is an upcoming DLC for Valve’s Portal, which adds Ray-Tracing to the original title. This DLC is a free add-on for anyone that owns the original game and will be available in December 2022. Portal with RTX also supports DLSS 2 and DLSS 3, which means you’ll be able to enjoy ray-tracing at a higher framerate if you have an Nvidia RTX GPU. This a fairly demanding update and one that requires some pretty heavy hardware. Even if you’re targeting 30 FPS at 1080p, with DLSS 2 enabled, you need an RTX 3060 paired with a Ryzen 5 3600. This is still a pretty powerful GPU, and it’s pretty surprising how it will only manage to run Portal with RTX at the High preset at only 30 FPS.
If you’re set on 4K, you need one of the recent RTX 4080s with DLSS 3 enabled to target 60 FPS. Here is a recent video that showcases DLSS 3 in action.
Portal with RTX Release Date
Portal with RTX will be available for all owners as a downloadable DLC update on Steam on 8th December 2022. You can now add it to your wishlist on Steam at the following link.
