It seems that Sony has given PS5 owners a surprise feature in the official PlayStation App and on their consoles. PS5 owners are now reporting the ability to share screenshots and video clips from the PS5 system to their PS App on smartphones. This is a major feature that has been long requested and is rolling out slowly.
No more making dummy accounts on social media
After a long wait, a feature that the PS4 wasn’t able to get has been passed on to the PS5.
The ability to send screenshots and video clips to your smartphone app for easier sharing, without any middle apps.
Previously, one would have to make a burner PSN account and send the image or clip to that account which can be accessed on the PS App, or set up a Twitter account, but now those days are behind, at least for PS5 users.
A Twitter user by the name of GamingIntPhoto1 has reported they got the feature and even made a guide on how to do it.
Upon further inspection, Okami13_ further added in some small caveats.
While this feature has a few give and take for players, it is nonetheless a very welcome feature that fans will enjoy, especially with many cinematic games soon arriving on the console such as Sifu, Horizon Forbidden West, and Elden Ring.
Microsoft has had this feature on their systems for a very long time and Sony finally adding it has truly made a lot of fans across the world very happy.
According to a Reddit thread, this is a slow rollout, so if it is not out for your region yet, give the feature a couple of days. One thing is for sure, you don’t need a firmware update for the feature as many people are reporting that they got it without a firmware update.
Whether the rollout is based on your geographic location or your account region is not yet determined, so if you haven’t gotten it yet, you should be getting it in the coming days.
Let us know what you think of the feature in the comments section below and if this is something you’re looking forward to using.
