It seems that Dusk Golem has shed some light on how long the playtime for Resident Evil 8 will be. According to their latest tweet, the game will be the longest game on the RE Engine yet, which so far makes up 3 mainline Resident Evil games, with 2 of them being full remakes of their PlayStation 1 originals.

Resident Evil 8 – the longest trip to any village

Resident Evil Village was teased a few months ago, and since then Capcom has remained hush regarding the game. Understandably so due to COVID-19.

However, where official news is dry, rumors thrive.

Dusk Golem is a renowned leaker, particularly for the Resident Evil series.

According to some new information shared by Dusk Golem, the resident Cheshire Cat of the community, Resident Evil 8 will be longest RE Engine game yet.

Currently, only Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake share the same engine in the Resident Evil series.

When we look at average playtimes of each games, Resident Evil 7 had an average play time of 8-10 hours, and some even went about a dozen hours on their first playthrough of the game.

Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake are both at the 4 to 5 hour mark when it comes to the first playthrough, and after that the time shrinks to less than 3 or even 2 hours for speedrunners.

Currently, this means Resident Evil 8 is set to be longer than Resident Evil 7.

While we still don’t have any new details on the game as of yet, we are only half-way through August. Perhaps there will be a subtle announcement from Capcom soon.

Dusk Golem has also predicted that we might get a Resident Evil 8 trailer in August.

So far, that hasn’t happened yet, but the month is still young.

With the latest entry being of the more sought after titles for the Xbox Series X and PS5, fans are clamoring for more details and information on the game.
