Recent news of Spider-Man being a console exclusive to Marvel’s Avengers could mean that everyone’s favorite web-head could also be a timed exclusive. We have seen a similar case occur with Final Fantasy 7 Remake with a year long exclusivity deal, but it is possible that the character could be a timed exclusive
Spider-Man as a timed exclusive for Marvel’s Avengers
It seems that some billboards may have hinted that similar to the Final Fantasy 7 remake, Spider-Man could also be a timed exclusive for Square Enix’s upcoming Marvel’s Avengers.
This is merely speculation at this point, but the wording on the billboards is pretty indicative of this.
Originally spotted by a Reddit user, the billboard says “select content first”. The date makes the billboard outdated, but it is also possible for Spider-Man to come to Marvel’s Avengers in the future.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is currently a PS4 exclusive for a year. The game will be available on other platforms after 10th of April, 2021.
Spider-Man, has on numerous occasions come on multiple titles outside of the PS4, with the 2018 title being the only time Spider-Man was exclusive to a single console.
Yes, Sony does own the rights to Spider-Man, but that didn’t get in the way of Spider-Man coming in various other recent titles.
Sony has had the rights to Spider-Man since 1998, but that hasn’t stopped the wall crawler from coming in previous games on previous generation consoles and the PC. Games like The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man Web of Shadows, and many more.
2018’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales are all endeavors done by Sony to enrich the PS4’s exclusivity library. Since Crystal Dynamics, the developers of Marvel’s Avengers aren’t even a first-party studio like Insomniac games, this further improves the chances that Spider-Man is a timed exclusive for Marvel’s Avengers.
Until we get further details on the game, we might not know how long the exclusivity will last.
Marvel’s Avengers is entering some early Beta tests later this month, and fans are excited to try the game out.
