Rocksteady’s latest title in the world of DC is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. which is set for release on May 26th, 2023. While the game has enjoyed some fame due to Rocksteady’s previous work on the Arkham trilogy, a leaked screenshot on 4chan may show that the title is intended to be a live-service title that goes even as far as to offer a Battle Pass for the game.
Suicide Squad Menu is worrying
It seems Warner Bros. video game division is definitely doubling down on making cooperative gameplay a part of their formula. At the end of 2022, the release of Gotham Knights was met with harsh criticism for the lackluster story, 30FPS cap, and a plethora of other complaints, but that was a title developed by WB Games Montreal, however, many people trusted the upcoming Suicide Squad would restore the DC name. Unfortunately, it seems that there could be trouble brewing if we are to believe a leaked screenshot.
The menu seems legitimate enough, but we will still leave room in the audience for the skeptic inside us. While many players will be quick to point out the other features in the screenshot, you might notice the inclusion of Battle Pass as one of the menus players can navigate to, which is where we might see troubling waters ahead.
While Games as a Service (GaaS) is now an industry standard, the inclusion of a battle pass in a paid title is something that is definitely going to rub fans the wrong way, unless Rocksteady and Warner Bros quickly squash these claims.
While we are currently treating this as a rumor, we would encourage you to wait for further details from the studios concerned to see the purpose of the Battle Pass if one is to be included. However, we don’t imagine it having a positive outcome with regard to reception.
